Hello,

Is it true that skills train for 72 hours after your subscription expires?
When I tried looking this question up, all I found confirming it was one post on this forum with one like.

Thanks

Yes, skill training continues for 72 hours after a subscription lapses just to allow for those that need to bridge "the gap" on those few occasions for their accounts, because real-life sometimes interferes. I'm sure CCP would reserve the right to cancel that if they found abuse of this going on.

It used to.
As far as I've heard, it now stops instantly when your account expires, probably after the Infinite queue.
Can't confirm before in a few days tho Blink

Yeah, last info that I know is that is keeps training for 3 days, just to bridge a possible gap between paying the sub and it being received by CCP (or, waiting for that pay check to be deposited)...

Then again, it is one of those things that CCP could have changed silently to go inactive the moment the account goes inactive.

Would there be a way of checking skill progression while inactive? Do I still retain API access for example?

(Also, big fan. Big smile No matter what question I google, you're always one of the first responses.)

API stays active even on inactive accounts. As far as I'm aware nothing has changed but then I've not had any account run out (I use ghost training on some of my accounts) since the last update.

It seems a bit random. My account has expired a few times, and sometimes the queue freezes straight away, other times I've left it over a week to resub due to RL, to find the 7 day skill I just started before my sub expired has completed!

The queue ( that's a stupidly spelled word) seems quite buggy atm, I've got a new alt who can fit all rigs with no rigging skills whatsoever.

I like to link the source whenever practical:

As Wrangler has already stated, there is a three day grace period between when your account expires and when training stops.

In theory you could fudge about a PLEX a year worth of training time however I suspect if you abused the system by always subbing 3 days late every month CCP would very quickly disable that grace period for your account.

Also if you are subbing with cash any benefits would be offset by the higher cost of subbing monthly as opposed to longer sub deals.

Note that this grace period does not seem to apply to MCT.

Also worth noting is that if you bought the "training permit" for your alt on same account with your main then the training will continue for the full period that you paid for on both characters but you no longer have access to that account until you have bought a new subscription.

Just to remind you that subscription and skill training are separate entities even if the seem to be connected and indeed in the days of yore we had a feature known as 'ghost training' where you left a (preferably very long) skill running and let the account to lapse.
This lead to most of the people un-subbing for summer month(s) and returning after with a BS V or similar fully trained in.

Obviously CCP wasn't thrilled with the situation so first they gave us the 24h skill queue (thank the heavens btw) and disabled the ghost training and now we have this near unending skill queue which is even better.
