Linking the Entosis Link with Project Legion concept:

In the future, the entosis link could make the dream CCP had a reality of linking it's different flagship games together as one. Each having an influence on the other but never dictating the total outcome on another game. This concept is my idea of something that probably shouldn't exist EXACTLY as I am about to describe, but just simply some ideas to visualize as a baseline for something that would be really cool if implemented the right way!

The concept is based on the Entosis tool that is being developed for the Sov Changes in June. I believe this sets up a potential link with project legion that should be explored in the future! These ideas would definitely take some time and hard work to implement in a truly balanced manner for the spirit of both Eve and Project Legion.

For the initial sov changes, I see that this Entosis mod will probably have some kind of laser effect to conquer structures. This should be viewed as a placeholder! Once the link between Eve and PL is established, the Entosis would actually serve the function as a physical bridge or tunnel from the ship, to the structure for the purposes of boarding it with stormtroopers.

In my concept(which I invite anyone to take this idea and use it their own way if they want!), there will be many factors to make it happen. Many algebraic expressions to work out a balance that will need to be figured out.

To start:

Project Legion will need to have several unique maps in the game:

-At least one large and unique map for each racial station in sov nullsec (gallente, caldari, amarr, minmatar).

-An indoor map that is based on the size and the interior of the I-Hub in space.

-A planet bound map representing the TCU. In this case, the TCU in space serves as a jump point to a planet bound complex. By using Entosis on TCU, you are just doing something that is making this planet bound complex accessible to be conquered in Project Legion. Create skyboxes for these maps that correspond to a barren, oceanic, gas, plasma, etc atmosphere to keep it unique while you create more maps for the game that could take these environments into account for base design! Planting a flag on the planet or controlling the communications complex should give some kind of perks to the guys in space fighting in that system. Defending it successfully should give the defenders a little bit more time to put a fleet together(but not over and over, a one time deal).

When an entity wants to conquer something. They should be able to benefit with assistance from Project Legion soldiers. Although how much they benefit would always be up to debate. It doesn't have to have much of an effect at all. Or it can be scaled depending on the actual population of players that actually participate in these fights. Here are a few brainstorming ideas.

*If there is no sov conflict, PL players will go about their normal business, having matches, doing FPS stuff, fighting on planets, playing out the empire storyline.

*In order to activate a bridge to a sov structure(entosis), you need to equip three different modules to your ship. One goes in the high slot, one in the mid, and one in the low slot. This would require a sacrifice in the tank of the ship.

*You could even choose to have it offline all other modules when the Entosis is activated and reduce the ship's powergrid to only that of the active Entosis mods so nothing else could be put online over it's duration. This would also require a refit after all was said and done putting the user at great risk and in need of a true escort to conduct the boarding operation as the shield and armor hardeners can not function while the bridge is extended.

*While the bridge is extended, the combat zone is activated in Project Legion. Objectives must be completed to provide 'x' benefit to the attackers in space.

*Each ship in eve online is given a new attribute. The carrying capacity of combat soldiers. A frigate should only be able to provide a certain number of soldiers to the combat zone, a cruiser more, a hauler much more, and a supercarrier a massive number. Using a super would be very risky considering that it will have no defenses active on the ship if the mods are offlined like I suggested above.

*This capacity of the Entosis user could influence the number of total soldiers that can participate, or it could influence the number of times that a player participating in an FPS combat can respawn after death during the engagement.

-The ship may even need to have small arms, or other upgrades in the cargo hold for the soldiers to arm themselves with.

The Defenders

The influence exerted by Project Legion players on an Eve Online sov fight needs to be balanced. Also, safeguards need to be in place to prevent spais from purposely sabotaging the match too easilly, although some deviant actions should be allowed, this is eve after all! Each corp and alliance in eve should also exist in Project Legion. Or they can use mercenaries from the general population.

A Baseline number of max defending forces(or respawns) in a combat zone should be influenced by the I-Hub's security upgrades. It can provide more players, more respawns, more advanced arms, or all of the above. This should be baseline. Additional variables could be provided by a defensive Entosis activation on the same structure by the holding party if they can also hold the field along with the attackers, although at some point one side will probably lose the respawns provided by their Entosis.

CCP may want to allow a defending party to be able to set up a limited defense before the offenders can start the engagement.

DESTROYING A SHIP USING ENTOSIS WILL STOP THAT SIDE FROM RESPAWNING!

Examples of the concept in action:

1.

Pandemic Legion wants to conquer a BRAVE station in X system. PL deploys a supercarrier fleet consisting of 40 Aeon/Nyx with 90 supporting slowcats. They choose an Aeon to use the Entosis on the station. There is no project legion fight as they are only breaking the shields at this time. After the X required cycles, the station goes into reinforce, and a notice is given in both Eve and Project Legion to relevant parties of the armor timer.

For the armor timer, Pl returns with the same fleet. The entosis is used this time by an Archon, rendering it's other modules offline. The bridge is opened and the battle starts.

The defenders are allowed X because of Ihub + Baseline. The attackers are allowed Z as the Archon can hold that many combatants. They also have Q in the cargo hold to upgrade their soldiers. If PL wins inside the FPS match, they get a benefit to the capture of the sov structure. Maybe it is a faster cap, or one more timer for humiliating defeat/longer cap time, or the victor being able to set a general time zone for the next timer, whatever...Anything more or less effective, balance is important.

However, during the engagement, the archon is sniped from range and destroyed as it can not be repaired. All respawns have stopped in the combat zone. BRAVE begins cleaning up, and are very close to securing he station when PL uses another Entosis with another Archon, starting the spawns again...This goes on for a little while, with people fighting in eve and project legion for the objective. The side with the superior force would eventually have the balance tipped in their favor, but they may have to do so without certain benefits to the capture that the defenders would enjoy, it could just be buying some more time(this shouldnt be a repeatable benefit)

In the future you can account for faction stations in low and high sec for walking in stations linked to eve. Eve Online and Project Legion should be closely linked so that you can launch the application for one another from each other. Like entering the captain's quarters in eve, but an option for creating an instanced zone. This is far off, but maybe in the future, during peacetime, instead of shipspinning and talking to your mates in comms, you can walk up to them at a Amarr station themed bar where combat is disabled and you are just simply sitting there sippin on some gin and juice. Or gambling your isk away at the poker table. An extremely social element. Each station in the game would have an instance, that could be loaded once one person that is docked chooses to. It could be a small room, nothing like the combat maps explained above to start, but could develop it into anything really.

The outcome of an FPS battle should never dictate the ultimate outcome of the objective in eve, however perks and benefits should be given. This is just a concept for future ideas. =)

Most of that seems way over-complicated and would also be a ton of Dev work to even think about implementing.

That said, the Entosis Link would provide a smooth ~lore~ explanation for how your EVE pilot/account could work for Leion/Valkyrie as well. Thereby you link all three IPs in a meaningful and smoothly integrated way that cross-promotes the games without "forcing" an arbitrary (or half implemented) link mechanic.

The hardest part and most complicated I think about integrating the games would be actually balancing their effect on one another. You want it to have some kind of real effect, but at the same time you don't want a bunch of people in a game you may not care to be apart of having a great effect. Balancing it so that it is perfect, that is the real challenge to making it work!

Yeah, it is really complicated! I think it would be really damn cool if worked out the right way. I just can't imagine this entosis module capturing sov structures with a little graphical effect, I gotta justify it in my own mind somehow :P

Entosis Link hasn't been implemented yet, Project Legion isn't even done yet

I"VE GOT IT. lets take these two incomplete ideas and smash them together in an complicated way because "wouldn't it be cool if"

Interesting idea. Faction war has connections to DUST already, so why not nullsec war?
