Scanning Down Superior Sleeper Cache

Hello fellow explorers.

I recently tried to probe down some superior sleeper caches and have been unsuccessful thus far. Before I began, I read what little I could find about these sites and someone had mentioned they were able to probe it down with a sensor strength of 105. I currently have a strength of 126 and the most I can get it to is a 99.3% hit. This is with Sisters launcher/probes, Astro V, Rangefinding IV, and a Cheetah with Cov Ops IV and 2x Gravity Rigs, + the 806 implant.

My question is for those already successful at probing these sites down; what sensor strength was necessary to probe down the site? I'm debating if it's worth replacing my 806 with a 810 implant. I don't really want to spend a month on getting Rangefinding/Cov-Ops to V so I'm hoping the higher implant might do the trick.

Edit: Forgot to note I also have 4x (tech-one) Rangefinding Arrays fit as well.

Cheers,

Have you tried to place your probes manually? You can get better results with it ( some %, but that should be enough for you)

I suppose it's worth a shot. I'll let you know in a bit.

Edit: I did zoom in and line it up pretty much perfectly on the signature earlier, but I didn't move them individually.

Well that worked. I'm just bad at EVE for not trying that sooner, but thanks for the tip.

Best I have done is, an Imicus with Gallente Frigates V, T2 Core Probe Launcher, Sisters Probes and 1 T1 Gravity Capacitor upgrade. No implants, scanning skills all to level V as well.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

If you hold down the Shift key, you can move your probes one by one, but a more effective way is to hold the Alt key and move one probe.

Holding the Alt key, click on an arrow, not the square face, and move the probe inwards, all your other probes will move in as well and this allows for a more concentrated scan of your target.

With this method and placing the target in the middle of the circle, you will get a more precise scan.

this method will work for pretty much all those elusive sites, and if you can't get to 100%, train some more skills.

unless they added a lower band, iirc you can pin any sig with about 90 strength (i think it was 87 i had on my old ishtar, not sure anymore).

but yeah on the last scan moving in probes way close with zooming in is the way to go for the lowest band.

Just a thought that may or may not help you and you will need to check this with your fit tool of choice.

If you are using the Range finding array, pinpointing array or both you may get better scan strength using a single tech 2 rig as opposed to 2x tech ones due to stacking penalties.

It's lower. I'd estimate it at about 65% strength of the old 10/10 band.

This eveeye tool is very helpful in figuring out how to improve your scan strength. The interface is confusing, but the tool can be found under "calculators, etc." if it doesn't come up on the first page.

As I stated earlier I was able to do it after manually adjusting each individual probe so that it was closer to the site than what the standard probe presets allow.

It does seem ~105 is around the minimum scan strength you need to get a 100% hit though I imagine it probably fluctuates.

Thanks again for all the info though, appreciate the helpful comments!
