I don't know why you're having trouble with the launcher. It works well. Just use a shell script to execute it:

#!/bin/bash
wine /Path/To/Your/Wine/Directory/drive_c/Program\ Files/CCP/EVE/eve.exe $*

Chmod 777 and voila. It'll open a new instance of the launcher every time. Works on 1.7.33, and every previous release too.

I'm a bit stuck here. I have tried to fallow your steps but at the end terminal trows an error to me:
chmod: launcheve03: No such file or directory

What I have done:

1) cd Desktop
2) vi launcheve03
3) i
4) #!/bin/bash
wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/CCP/EVE/eve.exe
5) ctrl+Z
6) chmod 777 launcheve03

---> chmod: launcheve03: No such file or directory

Could you point me to what am i doing wrong? I am able to launch the launcher using that link to wine (wine directory) manually. I cant figure out what is wrong here.

Thank's in advance.

Have EVE running in Wine on 10.10 way better than the official client, but there's some serious issues for me. The client doesn't update damage/cap use/drain etc. So while it's way better performance wise it's not really useful to play with as I can't see incoming damage cap drain or anything.

Anyone seen anything like this?

Hi,

You can disable captains quarters by following these instructions before logging in your character.

Start the game without launcher (first make sure it is up to date), by launching not eve.exe, but by executing this:

$ wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/CCP/EVE/bin/exefile.exe

Then you will be presented old login screen, look for button "settings" and
Click Display & Graphics
On the right side of the menu, locate "Load Station Environment".
Uncheck "Load Station Environment"

The reason why cider does not load it automatically, but wine does is because CQ are by default on (not 100% sure) and these different client DO NOT share settings, hence you have different behaviour. Probably you had disabled the CQ on other clients at some point but for wine it has remained ON.

Hope it helps. o/

Thank you so much. It worked perfectly. I am very grateful. I can enjoy EVE again. And oh how glorious are the asteroid fields, how alluring and exciting is their call again. Mine, mine away Big smile

Mac client still messed up.

Hi,

After the Proteus upgrade my graphic card become completely crazy and also the game freezes after a while.

Mine is a MacBook Pro 15-inch, Mid-2012 with those Nvidia GT650M and OSX 10.9.5

Since the game is unplayable I thought trying PlayOnMac since it is far easier to me than installing Wine (to install Wine I need to think... I'm sorry).

I installed and the graphic glitches aren't there, FPS is higher and the Mac heats less...

As a comment, since it works better in another games I used a CSMT Wine build, particularly the 1.7.34-CSMT-cf92569

I hope this helps other people with the Eve client issues.

So here's my story. I had been running this on an early 2013 MBP (the one with the 650m in it) and it worked wonderfully. WAY better than the native client.

I've since gotten a new MBP (latest model with the 750m) and now the launcher freezes as it's loading. I had to Force Quit the launcher about a dozen times Friday till it finally loaded all the way. Once that happens, things are fine.

Today I've started the launcher 30+ times and so far it's hung every single time. I've resorted to the native client for the time being, but would really like to go back to the wine version as the game client does freeze.

Please help!!

Finally got it. Needed to delete the launcher directory and then run the repair tool via `wine repair.eve`. Needed to remove the launcher dir because otherwise `wine repair.exe` would attempt to run the launcher!

Had to run repair tool several times in a row.

Now it seems to work.

Do you have the list of dependencies you installed? I've use Norden Kor's method but the launcher seems very buggy and my CPU utilisation is massively high compared to the native client.

I'm running the same as you latest Macbook Pro 15".

This seems to have been a one time event, overall the .exe in wine outperforms the OS X package CCP supplies by a huge margin for me, it runs faster, cooler and with more features while being more stable.

This is awesome, running way more stable than the native client! However, I can't seem to get the Mumble Overlay to work. Any suggestions?

Thank you so much, the game runs great like this. I do sometimes have windows disappearing, any way to fix that?

So I switched to using http://winebottler.kronenberg.org (dev version) instead and the disappearing windows are fixed. The game is running great like this.

Can you post a step by step please? I did it and included the wineskin dependancies on page 2, first run of the .app and it gave me a c runtime error, subsequently it just opens a wine file browser :S

Anyone know how to properly set up the On Demand Launcher with Wine? I want to select the SharedCache to be on my external drive with the installation, where it currently is (from my windows installation). However, the file browser shown doesn't display the external drive. I even tried setting up an alias to my mac but that doesn't show up either.

Any ideas?
Mike

EDIT: Found it in the file browser. Navigate to your mac's hard drive (not the virtual C drive) and find the volumes folder. All external hard drives are in there.
