Are you sure about this? I just checked my journal and don't see any insurance payouts except for a week after the patch when you would still get paid as you describe. Yeah, as an outlaw. Not sure if it was patched already or I've just been popping too quick to gate guns.

It's BS.

I have been hard at work processing membership applications for the Mining Buddy Program and not once have I received a generous donation from the insurance company. A crying shame too since all I have to fall back on is the T2 salvage, faction modules, and named upgrades.

Sometimes it is tough being a public servant...

Well, I was planning on testing this, but the first Hulk I found was a 'repeat customer' that I had popped last week.

The brutalized Hulk Miner was obviously prepared for a gank, with a small cloud of Concord nearby, Small Booster pulsing, AND a Scimitar loitering nearby.

Helpfully, my Tornado explained the difficult concept of 13.5K 'volley damage' to them (again).

Unfortunately, didn't really have time to try to get my alt onto the KM, so will try it again soon...
