Can plex work opposite of the way players usually use it?

So most people get plex to buy isk, but could you buy plex with isk to buy real money?

Seems like you have a misconception of what is a PLEX, it's 30d game time code which is sold on in game market.
Just because someone pays you 400mil isk for it isn't the same as buying ISK and you sure as hell cannot trade ISK for $ or kiss your account bye bye once CCP finds out.

Actually that's exactly what it is.. if you buy plex for the sole purpose of selling it for isk, you're buying isk. It doesn't matter how indirect it is, that's what it comes down to.

So if you want to keep playing the game, the answer is no, you cannot buy real money with a PLEX that you bought for ISK.

Yes and no. When someone buys a PLEX you bought from CCP, you are effectively paying for that buyer's game subscription in exchange for the effort they put forth in the game (see: the ISK they accumulated).

It IS a microtransaction in a sense (because you are, ultimately, "buying" ISK)... but you are neither adding, nor taking away from the game economy as a whole.
What PLEX does is merely shift ISK around and bring a "reasonable" compromise (and a very elegant one at that) that balances the integrity of the in-game system with the out-of-game "wants" of players.

Selling any in game item for normal money (also known as Real Money Trading or RMT) is against the EULA.

Violating this rule will get you eighter banned from EVE or get you a serious penalty.
