would like to run my alt in an orca on my netbook, to give out bonuses. and nothing else, naturally I would keep all graphics on the lowest possible ... .. I have installed direct X11 on this Eee pc 1000....... possibly 1gb of ram...
the launcher runs but eve wont... I had to remove Linux to install windows 7 (to have direct x)
is there anything I can do to accomplish this ?
my other available laptops are IBM thinkpad R40 and fujitsu lifebook b series with an intel solo core.. those 2 have Linux mind you

please help

Did you try installing with Wine before you removed Linux?

Since you're committed to Windows, you could try spamming the process or skipping the launcher and running evefile.exe in the /bin/ directory of the game files.

I would also suggest running CCleaner or a similar app that removes startup entries that go live when Windows starts up. Just about everything's got a background updater that for whatever reason needs to run full-time, instantly as soon as the PC starts. Delete these or disable them. Your programs will request updates when you use them, anyway. That should free up RAM and CPU. Then try launching the game. Additionally, use that tool to clean your registry for good measure.

Spam the file until it goes live. I've heard of the game not working for several tries and then working on weaker PCs after enough attempts. It's worked on chromebooks before!

You could also try running the netbook in low-color mode, reduced resolutions, etc. That will free up integrated graphics.

EVE can run on a toaster, and takes no resources when minimized, aside from memory.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

Check your resolutions, most netbooks run @ 1024*600 whereas Eve runs @ 1024*768 or better. I've run Eve on a netbook in the past and I'm fairly sure I had to run it in a virtual machine to get around the resolution problem.

Ah no... MS Surface RT = ARM Processor... Can't run x86 programs.. Eve is x86 program. That is what your school gave you. And no... Not the same specs as your laptop.
I have a Surface Pro and Eve runs on it like a charm.

1GB might be too small... And I don't think an Atom Processor is good enough to run Eve or it's integrated graphics is able to render the graphics.

you nailed it

1024x600.. doesnt go any higher

the only way this netbook is getting linux again is if eve will never run on it...

not true. My Asus Transformer book T200TA plays eve. But it has about 2bg of ram and a current atom processor.

to the op That EEE pc sounds like one of the first gen from a while ago, and i don;t think it's processor could handle eve. The newer atoms can with no issue given some tweeking.

According to the specs no you can not run eve.

"CPU: Intel Dual Core @ 2.0 GHz, AMD Dual Core @ 2.0 GHz
RAM: XP SP2 – 1 GB / Vista and newer – 2 GB"

According to cnet here is the ibm specs:

"CPU Intel Pentium 4-M 1.9 GHz, Intel Pentium 4-M 1.9 GHz
Max RAM Supported 1 GB
Technology DDR SDRAM, DDR SDRAM"

and your fujitsu... if these specs are right, has a p3... it needs to be dragged into the street and shot.

And yoru eee pc1000 has a single core old school atom.. so yea i think you are sol

Your answer is no. If i am lookign at this correctly, you do not meet the min requirements to play eve. Windows 7 alone eats up nearly a gig of ram.

there is not one. The only thing that MIGHT work, and only on the eee pc, is to install XP. your p4 and p4 are WAY too old. That p3 doesn't even have close to the tech needed for eve. The p4 is the same. The eee pc is single core, eve needs duel core, you *might* get lucky with xp.. but with thouse three pc's i'm 90% sure you are **** out of luck.

How does that solve the resolution issue?

Right, so it seems to be a waste of time to install either OS until you can determine a work around for that.

If the driver can support higher resolutions it may be as simple as plugging in an external monitor to force the driver to the 1024x768 resolution.

Some do, some don't. One of my netbooks didn't, so I ran puppylinux and a VM to get Eve running. The VM gives you a virtual gfx card, which does support the minimum resolution that Eve runs at.

I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than station trading or changing skills though, it is possible to mine with it but you have to arrange your screen accordingly or you lose some of the UI. Needless to say Eve runs at about 10 FPS or less.

My second netbook did support a better resolution on an external monitor, but as above Win 7 needs a couple of GB in RAM to make it worthwhile, XP is less demanding but it'll be slow as molasses if you plan on doing anything other than the basics.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Theres plenty of information online, and ya it might be time to look at buying a secondhand laptop that meets minimum specs. The specs are there for a reason.
