I've seen you mention this in a couple of posts now. My internet connection at the moment is only letting me Bing things and Google is AWOL for me, so I'm not able to find what you are referring to.

Would you be as kind as to explain what the rules were previously, and when/what expansion they changed in?

Stealing from a can only gave you an LE with the person you stole from, now it gives you a suspect flag.

I don't know how many times I have heard this. There is only one simple truth to this whole situation.

Unless you are a Mission Runner (which has not been "safe" for some time now), Pirate or plan to feed your account ISK via PLEX and PVP all the time, you are very limited. Although this is a sandbox, anyone outside those that I mentioned above are basically just waiting to get killed and have to figure out what to do next. This is not a place where you can "do anything" anymore, it is a place where you can die a lot or you can kill a lot.

I don't know how many new players have asked me how to start becomming a pirate. I used to teach them to flip cans. Now I say... umm... suicide gank??

If the current jet can rules were as they are now when I started playing, I would have never played Eve. It was a great way for me to immediately pirate with low skill points. It is also a way to keep miners from being greedy.

First, they cry about not being able to jet can safely. Then the mining ships get large ore bays and increased hull toughness. Now they are whining about suicide ganking and war dec rules. CCP... they will never stop whining. THAT is why they are called carebears. You have to constantly accomodate them and they are never happy.

BRING BACK THE OLD FLAGGING RULES ON JETTISONED CANISTERS.

Its really quite simple.

It was the entire owning corporation, actually. And I kind of have to agree that it was a superior system.

CCP really screwed up Crimewatch, especially the bounty-hunting component of it.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

My mistake. I was just a noob bearing it up at that time. I don't really know enough about the change and the logic (or lack thereof) behind it to say which was superior. I just know there's not really any point in posting in random threads saying it will fix high sec if it is changed back. Energy is better spent figuring out how to make the current system work for you than being bitter about how the system has changed and saying it will all be better if we just go back to the way it was.

As for the bounty system, how would you have done it?

As for the bounty system, how would you have done it?

I would have made it so that kill rights are issued to specific people, who need to apply for bounty-hunting licenses. When a bounty-hunter is in possession of a kill right, he would have an always-on limited engagement with the target, while the kill right is active/unexpired/owner didn't recall it. The financial part of it is fine (players get to bid on the kill right), but I would have added a reward escrow option as well; like a bounty, except not limited by kill value.

As opposed to the stupid suspect flag "everyone but the bounty hunter should do the bounty hunter's job" toggle system we have today.

I literally had a 100-page thread on this. I think Greyscale (who was responsible for today's ****** system) told me to HTFU.

Interesting thread by no means, but OP, why haven't you included in your calculations that should these changes proposed in the thread come around, what do you think how many years it'll take till Tranquility is shut down?

All posts and mails screencapped and time stamped, including out of EVE, you will not reverse on me.

Might come in handy!

Yes, because if anything happens that might touch your golden goose, the game will die, right?

Better prep up more alts to cover the missing profitability then, just like during the past two years, right?

Viola!

To start out:

  • Buff rats in belts. Give them web/scram/smartbombs. The longer someone sits in a belt, the stronger class of rat spawns in.
  • NPC corps of opposing factions are at war by default, mirroring FW.
  • Remove local. If you want to see local, youll need to be in a corp, and the corp will pay a tax to connect to the local intel.
  • Once wardecced, you do not have the ablity to leave corp at all. The button is grayed out. The only way out is to surrender or win. If the defender (and allies) beats the aggressor after 1 week (isk war), the aggressor is unable to declare war for two weeks after that.
  • Move ALL level 4 missions to lowsec, and increase the payouts.
  • Remove highsec incursions, or dramatically decrease the payouts. There is no risk for the current meta.
  • Ships in NPC corps must pay docking fees each time they dock up.
  • NPC players cant undock in anything larger than a cruiser hull.
  • If you are operating in a lower-sec part of highsec, you get pirate FACPO-style response if you have a super-positive sec status.
  • Killing a -5 or below in highsec adds "tags" to their wreck, purchasable by NPC's at CONCORD stations (similar to WH loot). Does not spawn if CONCORD is on the KM. The more badass the pirate, the more ISK his tags are worth.
  • Miners whom deplete a belt are fined, and assessed a sec status hit.

Edit: Allow players to JOIN FACPO corps. FACPO-players would be able to engage the same level of sec status player that would have spawned the NPC version. (-2 in 1.0, ect)

this is actually pretty good but if your removing all the income from highsec then what on earth will you do? only griefing young players who dont have the experience to know what all this means is going to be the only thing doable in highsec.

but allbeit its a good bunch of ideas as it will spread players out from highsec into different areas of space and it doesn encourage a bit more combat, i particularily love the idea of faction war.

Which is to be expected when you design a game mechanic without any regard at all for the resultant gameplay. CCP Greyscale was openly disdainful of highsec PVP gameplay and clearly wasn't ever interested in the gameplay aspect of the crimewatch changes actually resulting in good gameplay.

The entire set of changes was anchored in a desire to reduce server load at any cost and was sold to people based on the totally false notion that they were going to "fix" some of the perceived "problems" in highsec PVP. In reality those "problems" never existed to begin with and were just excuses people made for their lack of understanding of gameplay mechanics.

The end result is a crap system that doesn't make sense and doesn't encourage interesting gameplay .

CCP Greyscale was a cancer.
