Loki subsystems

I have just become able to fly a Loki and have been googling the topic a bit and I have yet to find a good explanation of how the subsystems work and how to get the most out of them. The normally comprehensive EveUni is someone short on this topic. Other sites seem to hit the topic somewhat tangentially. A link to a comprehensive explanation of the Loki subsystems would be greatly appreciated, better yet a thorough article on the entire ship itself would be nice since it seems to be much more complicated than figuring out something like a regular HAC.

I'm still working through the skills, but I imported a fit into EFT of the rather ubiquitous webbing Loki and see that I'm not getting anything near the full web range that I would get with level 5 skills. Can anyone tell me what all skills affect the range of Loki's webs?

The subsystems themselves give a pretty good description of the bonus' they provide.
And yes, it's generally common that strat cruiser sub skills all be trained to V. I have to say, I don't recommend flying it with sub-par skilling.

I think you might be asking a lot, to have someone explain each subsystem in full.
It might help if you describe what you are trying to do with it, and maybe someone can give a fairly common fit for that usage.

Things the Loki is good at.
Fleet booster
Ranged webbing in a midsized fleet
Station bait IF responders are timely. It can actually tank pretty well.

Not so great at PvE.
Damage is on the light side.

This is a handy site to get started: http://www.ellatha.com/eve/Loki-Config.asp It tells you what each sub does. Remember, each combo will rework you ship fittings. Some add a low and take a high for instance. This site and EFT are great for this.

On T3s, your skill in subsystems is what makes each subsystem stronger in it's particular use. On the Loki, each level of Loki Electronics gives you 30% to web range for instance.

I doesn't take long to get them all to V and I recommend doing so quickly. A T3 is sub par without them.

It will click! I always try and fly a T3.

I would be using it for PvP; except maybe exploration?

The webbing Loki is the one that is seen the most. I also saw a fit for an insta-locking alpha arty Loki that looked interesting, that is if the fit actually works. Maybe a bubble-proof scout/tackle?

Perhaps an explorer that could do both hacking and combat sites and fit covert ops, and possibly kill other explorers that happen to be in the way. I don't do much hacking right now, because I'm not big on gameplay that requires hiding like a mouse all the time, I'd rather be the cat.

EDIT: Just adding, I realize that for an explorer to do all that I would need mobile depot to be effective, but I assume you can't change subsystems that way.

You can change subs with a mobile depot.

True. You probably should have researched all this as you trained up. On the up side, once you learn about how the subs interact, it's pretty much the same for all T3s.

And I hope you are aware that if you get popped in a T3, you lose SP in one subsystem.

The subsystem with the highest SP relating to that T3, if any subsystems have the same SP you lose a random one picked between them.

I have a feeling Exotic Matters is propably looking for answers relating to most efficent tactics and strategies depending on the subsys combo, rather than what they do. Personally not even entry level assistance with that matter, but guidelines are there in the open, the rest has to come learned by the errors I suppose.

All posts and mails screencapped and time stamped, including out of EVE, you will not reverse on me.

Might come in handy!

figure out what you want it for, then choose subs appropriate to that.

It will take trial and error before you find that perfect fit, but when you do it's a really satisfying feeling.

Like the loki we use in wormhole escalations went through about 5 revisions and I'm pretty sure we now have the best possible performance/price ratio possible now.

I found the "understanding tech 3 cruiser" files on this page helpful with the subsystems. There is not one for the Loki, but you can get the concepts from the other cruisers.

Are you sure it's only for one subsystem you loose? Never lost one on TQ, but done so during a masstest on Sisi, and I lost SP in 3-4 subsystems then.
