Bug Zappers - Still Viable?

So my alliance recently smashed a POS and we wanted to put up a bug zapper to catch an orca that logged off in the old POS location. When I log off at night there is no forcefield up but after downtime it keeps deploying on its own. Was there a stealth update that made bug zappers no longer possible? Has anyone else had problems with their POS shields deploying automatically?

From what I understand they only deploy if someone sets up a password. Do you know if maybe a corpmate saw the tower onlined and no password and set one?

I bug zapped a Chimera (YAY for AFK PvP) about a month ago. If something has changed, it has been more recent than that.

We thought that was what happened the first time around. Another corp mate had logged off in the system and we thought maybe he put the password in before he left but he swears he didn't (and i believe him). In any case, I offlined and completely unanchored and scooped the tower and redeployed it successfully with no forcefield but it popped up after downtime again the second night.

From what I remember it retains the PW unless it gets repacked. So you need to take it down again, repack the stick itself in a station or something, or use another stick that has been repacked.
