Why did you suddenly get ugly?

In case you mean the face ... then that way my good influence.
If you call it ugly, it's working as intended. Cool

That ringing in your ears you're experiencing right now is the last gasping breathe of a dying inner ear as it got thoroughly PULVERISED by the point roaring over your head at supersonic speeds. - Tippia

WHAT THE **** IS IT DOING IN HIGH SEC SPACE!?

I specifically went there to be SAFE, "getting started" not to get ****** and lose all of my ****.

SORRY, but I am extremely pissed off, this makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE WHATSOEVER..

High sec does not mean no danger.

Don't take me too seriously though, I like to tease a bit on the forums, but that's only because I love you...

I guess I can go buy another ******* mining barge, and go play with rocks..

Because thats why I bought this game, to poke ******* pebbles.

As much as I'd like to poke around the whole "highsec isn't safe" part, this is NPQ&A, so I'll provide a bit of advice (and expand upon what a few others have said).

Firstly, if you hate mining, don't do it. Mining is one of the most tedious and boring PvE activities out there, and it's one of the least-lucrative things you can do. You already have scanning skills, so I would use and abuse those, if I were you, to make better money.

Look into exploration. Based on your losses, it looks like you're using Gallente ships, so take a look at the Gallente exploration ship: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Imicus

EVE University's wiki has some decent fits on it for exploration. Specifically, you're going to be interested in the "Scanning 101" fit, http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Imicus#Scanning_101 but you want to make a minor modification: get rid of the two salvagers, and fit a single Prototype Cloak onto it, instead, and don't bother with the drones (you won't be doing any form of combat with what I'll be detailing).

Next, look into the MWD+Cloak trick: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Cloaking#MWD-Cloak_trick and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVi1CWcbSUE

Now you're going to do something a bit different: You're going to jump into lowsec. Yes, lowsec. Believe it or not, but lowsec is actually safer than highsec so long as you're being vigilant. Before you jump into lowsec, plot out your course, and do a bit of research via the in-game map and on Dotlan (http://evemaps.dotlan.net/) to see if your lowsec entrance is camped. If it is, you can either try to evade it using the MWD+Cloak trip (not advised until you've practiced it a LOT), or you can find a different entrance.

Once you're beyond the first system into lowsec, barring going through pipes, you'll be fairly safe. This, however, doesn't mean you can drop your guard.

Now that you're in lowsec, look for a system with nobody else in it and which has lots of sigs (not difficult at all once you're out of Caldari and Gallente space) and create a couple of safe spots (http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Safe_Spot). Drop your probes at a safe, then cloak up, and start scanning. You're looking for any type of Data or Relic site.

Don't get discouraged if you don't find anything right away! It's possible you're "following" another explorer who ran the same area a bit before you, or you're just on the mean side of Bob and the RNG (exploration can be steady income, but it can also be hit-or-miss, where you may make nothing for a week, and then hit a billion-ISK jackpot; it's all about the long-term averages).

The Imicus mentioned above is under 3m ISK, half of which comes from the cloak. With a bit of diligence, you can make that several times over per hour. Just keep an eye out for people entering local, and keep an eye on DScan if anyone is in local. Use your best judgement to determine if you should keep working on a can or GTFO, but to aid in this, when hacking a can, you should probably do two things:

Firstly, right-click your Analyzer modules and set them to "Auto Repeat Off." They only need to cycle once to start the hacking, and you can continue hacking while they're off.

Second, orbit the can at 2500 meters with your MWD off. This will allow you to immediately cloak up in case you believe a threat is coming your way. Don't worry about losing the can, if that's what happens, as having a lost ship (and any cargo with it) is significantly worse.

The absolute worst thing you can do, though, is get angry and upset, especially in a game like EVE. Smack-talking in local is a quick way to become a person's personal joke (in fact, in lowsec, talking in local is generally a bad idea, anyway, as a lot of pirate corps will start hunting you, then, instead of assuming you may just be passing through). Getting angry on the forums like this is a quick way to having a lot of people pointing at you and laughing. Actually, getting upset over a game is, in general, silly, simply because it's a game.

Chill out, relax, and don't worry about your losses. It all averages out in the end (and believe me, as someone who has lost over a billion ISK in ships, implants, and loot on multiple occasions, due to a poorly-considered decision between GTFO and just one more can, it does eventually average out).

Calm down, jeez. OK, you seem to be angry because you thought hisec was safe. Well, Eve is like a roguelike RPG where you can walk into the wrong place and get absolutely wrecked by the NPCs. You learn from this as you go, and next time you know to avoid these sites untill you level up or have better tools. The supposed safety of hisec stems from the fact there is a deterrent to outright violence called CONCORD and that is basicly it. And it makes perfect sense.

Fly into your friends level 4 mission. You die.

Tank wrong VS the rats you are going to fight. You die.

Badmouth a known ganker in hisec. You die.

You'd better appreciate the game for what it is, calm down and give it another go with lessons learned. Worst thing you can do is get angry. Angry people make mistakes. It makes them overconfident, and overconfidence is what Eve will slap you on the wrist for time and again. You'd better learn to love the whip - and that's something coming from Matar lips.

What makes no sense is that you didn't google the site first.
I google every single site I have not flown into first.
If you would have done that, you would not have lost your ship.

This.

Everyone in this forum is here to help. That's what NC Q&A is for. Take the good advice and information Celine, Archibald and Lord Battlestar gave you, and use it. We're here because we want to help, not be punching bags.

Should we tell him how trivial a matter it would be to find him or wait till hes short with the wrong person?

The heron is a better scanning ship.
