So

I rat sansha anoms. I am almost completely amarr skillwise. But not long ago I got bored of the same old lasers and drones. So I crosstrained into winmatar.

I have min cruiser 5 and frigate 5 and am on the way to battleship 5.

I have taken to ratting in a mach. Which is for sure a nice change of pace.

Some people swear by autos. But on the other hand I see others swear by arty.

Personally I'm using arty at the moment.

710 DPS 11775 Volley at 38km optimal and another 92km worth of falloff.
750 DPS tank vs sansha. 22mins of cap.

Keep in mind i dont have BS 5 yet.

Now i was looking at a vargur maybe when i have BS 5. I wasn't super impressed. The mach does more dps, has more range, a better slot layout, better cap, and is faster. The only real advantage the vargur has is better tank. And it's not really by that much (I wouldnt be using bastion). (Edit: I also already have maruaders 5)

The other thing i thought about was auto's.

Arty has extreme range, massive volley, use alot less ammo, and comparable DPS. Auto's on the other hand have waaaaaaay better tracking.




So anyway my question is. Would a vargur be worth it/how would you fit it? Would auto's be a better choice than arty? And in general if you were ratting sansha's with a winmatar ship which one would you use and why?

you're talking about using a marauder to do things a T3 BC can do almost as well.

Choose your tools properly, anoms are incredibly easy and thus you should fit accordingly.

You want a marauder to take advantage of bastion mode: tanking a huge amount of damage. You will get less than 50% out of the vargur running anomalies.

so to answer your question:

No a vargur would not be worth it for ratting anoms
I would say arty is better against sansha since they TD you and you need that extra range

If I were ratting sansha I would be using a missile boat or drones so I guess I would use a Phoon fleet or geddon

I run my mach with auto's and a 100mn ab.. cap stable unless boosting with x-large sb. 4x gyro's and 3 x te's in the low.. works like a charm.
Vargur isn't going to get you much more isk/h unless you battling to tank, which is one of the main reasons for a marauder, is its tank and immunity to ewar.. so you would be immune to TDing, but on the other side you can't move.
So unless you battling with tank or TD'ing is a problem you better of in a mach.. NM will do a better job btw.. but will have the same issues with TD'ing

... What next ??

You're comparing a mach to a marauder not using bastion? If you want to make it a fair comparison either include bastion or remove two tracking enhancers and the SBA from the mach. But that's just stupid now, isn't it?

If you're not going to use bastion then don't use a marauder.

Stick a the Mach or go t3 I guess. It should be a short train for u seeing as u have cruiser v. Do u have amarr cruiser v as well?

if you get escalations to 10/10's then the marauder will be better
