[suggestion] Free to play/inactive Mode

Before you blast me about the idea i am not suggesting a true "free to play" model

I am suggesting a mode of play that when a player decides or is forced to stop subscribing they enter into a heavily restricted playmode, the idea being there is just enough taste of eve to encourage them to return. but not enough that they will be satisfied.

Things you can do while in "inactive mode":
Buy plex from the market
Travel around (in a controlled fashion more on that later)
Talk in Corp chat
Talk in Alliance chat
Read Local chat
Receive ISK

Things you cant do:
Fly any ship
Train skills
See other ships
Be seen by other ships
interact with the market for anything other than buying plex
See local pilots
Send ISK
use contracts

Moving around:
When moving around either it is done by station hopping avoiding space entirely or it is done by making a "temp" jump clone from a set location or where your character is. this alt has no implants they are left where you were, they are in a special cloaked pod so it cant be used to distract players and cant be destroyed.

Reasoning:
Once a player leaves EVE the thing most likely to entice them back is the community. so staying in contact with their corp/alliance they are likely to discuss what the corp is up to and decide they want to be part of it and thus choose to resub.

it also means a player with enough ISK can always buy a plex instead of the 4hr window that is generously given at present

Finally the restrictions in place are to prevent.
1.) spamming local
2.)"spotters"
3.)Traders
4.)Distractions
all other manner of uses the inventive eve players can come up with.

Ultimately its meant to be a toe in the water to temp players back. but not a way to play without subscribing.

When i read local/alliance/any chat I know people have paid in some way to play, so their opinion matter. At least jita is spammed by peoples paying accounts. Spamming scams in jita should not be free.

Use the force without consent and the court wont acquit you even if you are a card carryin', robe wearin' Jedi.

I wouldn't mind the out of game access to group chats (not local), but everything else either already has a solution or would be problematic.

Eve is like an addiction; you can't quit it until it quits you. Also, iderno

Why not just create an app to let you chat with corp / alliance channels, while outside the game?

The account must already exist, even if it is inactive.

Just because you paid some money to spout garbage it doesn't mean anyone should pay any attention to it.

CCP could also prevent the spam and resolve this issue altogether...

**** no.

Have you read CCPs financial statements recently? They are hemorrhaging money as it is. I refuse to endorse an idea that makes that even worse.

wouldn't be better to have a few high sec regions be "free to play" zones where they can roam but not leave and restrict the types of ships they can fly? Granted the SP gain would have to be limited to say LV4 of any skill that are accessible and i think T1 Destroyers and modules would be the highest they can go in terms of ships.

of course the congestion of these regions would be a problem, not to mention the ganking.

I would like Quarter-PLEX that would let you sub a week at a time, mainly because I have a very short attention span.

Ideally, I'd like all of the subscription time to be fungible. If I have a month on the books, I'd like to be able to convert it to a PLEX, and then go on vacation for awhile.

Selling time at discount rate is not any different than having a bulk pricing rate for PLEX. That would be much more logical than a system that balkanizes groups of players into different currency zones.

I think CCP would actually get more returning players if they had a suspend button in account management. Knowing that you had unspent time credits would work exactly like any other sunk cost fallacy. If you oblige players to exhaust funds they've already spent, then they are more likely to find catharsis in simply being done with the experience.

Hell, I should be charging a consulting fee for this kind of marketing advice.

If you want to play the game, pay for it or get someone else to, (ie: PLEX.)
