Clearing C1 Sites faster

Hey all,

I've been living in a C1 for a bit and as I have progressed with my skills I have been working on trying to clear the sites faster. (yes I have kind of outgrown a C1, but I'm too lazy and busy with real life to bother right now).

I have 3 toons. 2 can fly full T2 fit Drakes, and are about 2 weeks away from solid tengu's The third is a solid Gallente toon (who usually plays WH covops scout and lookout).

So since C1's have a large amount of frigates, I have bee trying to figure out the best way to optimize the drake's for killing them faster (Scourge missiles don't seem the best against frigates).

While I have trained the drakes I am still a bit of a noob when it comes to missiles. I get Optimal and falloff. I mostly get Explosioni radius and explosion velocity, but am not as sure how to optimize for killing the little buggers.

Thanks

Target painters and drones?

If i wanted to overkill on frigs in a C1, i would go

1 toon in drake with a target painter
1 toon in a loki with light drones and webs

1 toon in a cheap ecm frig for scout/jamming

In order to kill frigs, you can either slow them down, or make their sig radius bigger. Imagine that when a missile explodes, it creates a ball of fire of a certain size.

For explosion radius, the smaller the missile, the smaller the radii with the explosion "damage" distributed around the radii in a ball. If the targeted ship has a large radii, all of the damage will hit the ship. So, a light missiles hitting a battleship will do max damage because the whole explosion radii is absorbed by the ship, but a cruise missile does next to no damage to a frig because the frigs sig radii is only a small percentage of the explosion radii. Explosion velocity works in a similar manner, except this time its the velocity of the explosion vs velocity of the ship.

Basically, in order to kill frigs, you need to slow them down, and increase their sig radii.

Cool thanks.

Of of my Drake toons started as minmatar (inherited the account from a friend who stopped playing. So I could put him in an AC hurricane. Use it to chew up the close orbiting frigs while the drake pops the far away cruisers.

I've heavily skilled in the area of missiles. Precision missiles work best against frigate sized vessels. However, the range is greatly reduced.

I forgot to mention that you can improve the explosion velocity and radii (ie faster and smaller) of your missiles using rigs, but on a drake its always better to go for tank rigs. You could do it with a tengu though.

could attempt a lolfit assault missile launcher (not heavy assault)
those things pillage frigates.

nighthawk and tengu will get a bonus to assault missile launchers (standard missiles) but i don't believe drake does.
