Can anyone enlighten me as to why the mining lasers and mining drone lasers are different colors?
I vaugely remember all mining lasers being orange a few years ago, but now they are blue, save for the mining drones which still have orange.
Any news from CCP about changing the drone lasers to blue?

The man who invented marketing was also involved in the fabrication of reports of Hun atrocities, reports that riled the public and got them to go to war. When he received his Nobel Prize his speech contained the putrid "...the minds of the populace must be regulated like an army."
Since that time words like NEW and MORE have been loaded with positive baggage. What's not to like about NEW stuff, or MORE of it?
We want MORE NEW stuff!

Mining lasers are still orange, at least for Strip Miners. Thing is, it's now flanked by two blue lasers, which blot out the orange from a distance. Zoom in, you'll see.

Ah.
I've been looking at Miner II's recently.
I still question the different colors though.

CCP is attempting to implement the Carebear Rainbow effect?

Perhaps they use different focusing crystals. Weapons grade laser systems are different colors depending on what crystal is used, but they all do the same general thing. Damage.

Why would mining lasers be any different? Although that does bring an interesting idea to mind. Adding possibly expendable crystals to mining lasers to be more effective at harvesting certain asteroids over another.

As you can see I'm no miner. Had no idea they existed in all my time of playing. :o
