Why do people keep saying we sacrifice pilots?

We sacrifice ships people, We pilots are immortal.

Congrats to GalMil.

Any capsuleer ship larger than a Frigate (which was most of what was flown in this campaign) is likely to have some number of baseline crew. I myself lost the Thorax-class Cruiser V.A.S. Exarch, in an engagement with a Pirate fleet that attempted to disrupt our operations. She carried a compliment of 18, only two of whom were able to make it to an escape pod and outside the blast radius of the engine core detonation.

Also, the personnel stationed to defend FDU or State Protectorate Outposts and Strongholds throughout the Warzone are not so fortunate as we Capsuleers.

Thankfully due to our consistent presence on the field following engagements GMVA rescue crews were able to recover many of those who were fortunate enough to survive the destruction of their ships. Captured Caldari POWs have been remanded to the custody of the Federation Navy. If any State Capsuleer involved has questions about their status I am willing to inquire on their behalf.

I think a few people missed that Ladistier isn't just any system, but the seat of the President, one of two. The other is in High Sec, and so is already secure.

The importance of the capture, its swiftness, and this subsequent post congratulating pilots and their crew was because this was a specific campaign, not a simple opportunity flip.

Say what you like about the Pendulum War, but there was some significance to gaining Ladister for this week. While Ladistier historically has been the last system we take in a full campaign, the President's inauguration seems to have lit a fire under the Militia to capture and hold it for the event.

There will always be negativity regarding the purpose of the Pendulum War outside of lining the pockets of the Industrialists, but not every capture is inherently meaningless.

Well, this is info that should have been in the Opening Post, now the rest of us know why this particular system carries enough value that it's worth a public announcement on IGS. In this light, I understand the reason why the retaking of Ladistier was celebrated publically.

The internal workings of the Federal government are lost on many, this is true, Jandice. But we in GMVA stay true to our roots and heritage. We shall always support the Federation and Her Constitution, against enemies both foreign and domestic.

Honestly, in my early draft for the announcement I did have a more in depth explanation about the significance of the system, but it got to be too long. I decided to focus on the actions of those involved, and explain more about our motivations later.

Some pilots will want to have a conversation about that kind of thing, others are more interested in petty barbs. What's unfortunate is when the former start acting like the latter.
