Lvl 5 missions - need advice

Standing loss against opposing faction is a detractor. As you do FW missions, you gain standing. Gaining standing allows you to gain rank. Rank increase equals substantial faction standing increase, and of course faction standing increase equals a decrease with the opposing faction.

The great thing about L5s is not only do you get substantial LP rewards, but depending on the mission you get; you will get bounties and if memory serves, a missions reward over 10mil isk.

I think that going from L4 to L5 does make sense but it's hard because it completely changes the way your run PVE content. You have to have at least the most rudimentary pvp skills to run L5's.

From what I understand, L5 missions often pit you up against the other primary factions, so you often either have to take a standings or, or you run into problems trying to run many L5's in one night without hurting your rep by turning down missions.

In faction warfare, there are missions, up to L4, and they pay well in LP - especially since the LP Store for the FW factions has everything discounted from 40% to like 80% in some case (IIRC). So it's actually quite efficient when it comes to LP rewards.

Now finally, faction warfare: The biggest thing that wrecks your standing in faciton warfare is running missions in FW. However, in FW you can also simply capture territory. Every time you capture a beacon, you are awarded with anywhere from like 5,000 to 50,000 LP (probably could potentially earn even more). Doing this doesn't hurt your standings AT ALL. Killing enemy players in the enemy militia also doesn't hurt your standings AT ALL. Killing the NPC ship inside capture points doesn't hurt your standing at all either! The only things that hurt your standings are two:

1. Killing NPC faction ships in FW missions (this is the big one)
2. Getting promoted by your faction to a new rank (very small loss, and it stops when you reach max rank)

I've been in FW on and off for like 3 months. Take a look at my killboards. I have done plenty in FW and guess what... I am still in good standing with the Amarr and the Caldari. So there ya go!
