I generally have a specific look in mind. I usually spend a lot of time twiddling things in the character creator.

I do have a lot of alts.

I dunno how true this is, but I reckon old school PnP roleplayers like myself spend much more time on character creation. I might not do the whole RP thing in EVE very much, but all my characters have a concept and a 'personality' and a backstory.

My stable of characters is probably 60/40 female/male but none of the female ones are fantasies or reproductions. That said, Lucretia was designed to be a borderline psychotic goth chick and I've known a few of those ;)

Pretty much what i find attractive in a female, and would rather look at a female avatar than a male, i wish ccp would add more hairstyles though

Just the guys who make girls, now. When you make that girl do you make

a.) The girl of your dreams. Meaning it'd be a dream come true if she were real and ... actually would speak to you?

b.) The girl who got away...because she ran a helluva lot faster than you?

c.) A close approximation of mumsy at age 18?

d.) Your neighbor's wife...the one with marksmanship experience?

e.) YOUR wife, girlfriend or sister?

Thanks for responding. This has had me curious for a very l o n g time.

The first character I made was based off my visualization of a character in a novel I'm writing. Most of my alt characters were largely a mixture of randomness and fixing them so they weren't butt ugly. Making an idealized girl of my dreams would be impossible, the software is too limited. Oh CCP did make the software to allow a lot of variation, but it is within constraints have major limitations. Eyes in particular are limited in their customization.

That's what I do but I've spent quite a while playing around with the editor afterwards, on all of my characters lol. I haven't spent PLEX on it yet though =x

I ended up with Gallente Jin-Mei for this character due to the original attribute options available.

When the new character creator was released I was playing around with it a lot on SiSi so once it went live on TQ I had a pretty good crasp for what I wanted to do. I have not done any resculpts since, I even have the free one given out years ago available.

The original portrait looked like this and I tried to keep the look in the new one.

Got it in one.

I see what you did there.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

If they're going to be stuck with a face in the upper left hand corner of the screen it might as well be a hot one.

Strangely enough, that's what I do. Then I give her red hair because of reasons.

Same as others have stated, I had nobody particular in mind. I just kept trying different things until I got to something I liked.

Hi Serene, to answer your inquiry about us guys making female avatars, I am pretty well experienced in this regard. This avatar you see is my only female avatar here in Eve, she's humble, she's what I would say an average girl next door. Someone you can get to know on a friendly neighbor basis so to speak.

Ashlar is also quite the person that you can count on to take a situation and go with it to get the results desired as far as a successful outcome of anything that falls in her path. She may not be a beauty queen by no means but does in my mind looks nice enough for me.

Being successful is another trait that I try to bring out as a fierce fighter in which she comes out swinging for all it's worth (not with standing her killboards btw) and tried to win a fight in some of the most unequal terms to date.

Ashlar is NOT the ultimate female of any I ever created not only in Eveonline, but also in Second Life where it all began in October 2006. Second Life was and still is the springboard I used at that time to jump in with both feet to literally learn about myself in reality, long hidden feelings about me, long hidden ideas about myself.

Creating a female avatar has it's advantages and disadvantages as well, some I won't reveal. I can only suppose to further expound on your inquiry is that as a member of a relatively small community in Second Life where only 18% of that community is made up of LBGT members.

Other communities where I have female avatars such as World of Warcraft and Guildwars has allowed me to experience life as a female in some respects over others, I say this because this has allowed me to unleash that which was hidden and my friends world wide known about me otherwise, some have gotten very protective of me because they care and love me irregardless.

I hope this will at least give you some idea especially from someone who been there, done it and still does.

As far as sitting at the character creation screen, I took my time to see which race I wanted to portray, it takes some time to play around with the appearance with eye shadow, makeup, hair and hair color. Sometimes I have to start over and keep working until I get the look I want. Every now and then I will change my hair style and pose to keep things fresh, even changing clothes as well.

So, I hope this helps you to try to understand why some guys will make a female avatar, and not one of our real selves.

It's common for gamers to carry the same persona (avatar) through different games. As in, this is an observed behavior.

None of the above. I was mostly going for a sort of "engineer who wouldn't be afraid to get into a bar fight" look, though it didn't turn out quite as I had hoped in the end. It looked a bit more like it when I had a mohawk on her, but even then, the whole "engineer" part was more difficult to hit than not.

Eh, well.

Edit :: At the time, when I was still brand new to EVE, I was trying to make a hybrid PvP+Industry character, someone who could build stuff and PvP while waiting for it, thus the "brawling engineer" attempt. I was going to do this on all three characters on the account, and with "Summer" being more feminine than "Winter," Summer (the second char) was made female.

I realized after making them, when starting to look into the skills, stats, and times needed, that separating the two activities into a more dedicated PvP'er and a dedicated industrialist was significantly wiser than attempting to run a hybrid character right off the bat.

Miz got named after my druid in wow so I initially went for a 'spiritual' & good looking gal when I designed her.

Then the new char creator hit and the once beautiful Vherokior bloodline got nerfed hard. Now it is just a matter of turning the trainwreck into a nice looking lady and I'm still not happy with the results.

Hmph. Amarrian males are the pinnacle of warmth and kindness, and are a defining sight of youthful virility.

I just wish I had made Evans' nose just a shade larger.

And looking at his portrait up close, it looks like I forgot to turn off the silly scar on the right side of his face.

Eh, well. At least resculpts are fairly inexpensive, so it won't take long to save up for one.
