Combat Complexes featuring multi part escalations are one of the rigors you must endure in order to get a chance at a shiney. Many pilots simply avoid these type of combat sites as they've been known to lead you far away from your home station, and would often mysteriously appear in an enemy's home system.

Once you get the escalation, you have 24 hours to complete it. One of the only saving graces to this type of complex is that you could reset that 24-hour timer by going to the escalation system and simply initiating warp to the Journal bookmark. It was extremely useful as these complexes could take a great deal of time which left the pilot susceptible to family aggro, and a great deal of risk in getting your assets to the location (unless you live in the deep blue space of the mega alliances).

After coming back to the game, I've found that the option to reset the timer is no more. I feel that's a mistake.

It was removed mostly due to players cargo scanning the overseer and if they didn't like the lol wait till DT aha ant try for better loot.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.
