I need help.

I have subscribed for about 2 years but never really played Eve much so my lnowledge is a bit lacking. I now have time to put some hours in.

I need some advice on a ship for smashing lvl 4s with a max budget of 400mil, including insurance.

I am Armarr primarily, all gun supports skills at 5, T2 pulses and BS4. Also have about 3mil SP in missiles. I keep hearing missiles boats are the way to go, I like the look of geddon navy issues but they are pricey.

Any suggestions and fits much appreciated.

Try a T1 geddon with T2 mega pulse using scorch and put 4 sentries and 5 lights on it.

You can get a workable tank even while using two of the slots of heta sinks....just make sure to primary all the tackle frigates in case you need to bail cause this version of the geddon is a bit squishy.

If you want less squishy then try a mega pulse abby with scorch. It probably has less DPS as the abby needs those low slots for cap modules but it'll be a fairly reliable mission ship for a while.

Since you have more gunnery then missiles I'd say get into a machariel or a vargur as your goal ship. This is cause autocannon falloff can get you enough range to do decent damage with T1 high damage/low range ammos and cause projectiles are the only guns that can pick their damage; hybrids are stuck with therm and kin, and lasers are stuck with EM and therm. Projectiles can use EMP, Phased Plasma, and Fusion to adapt to pretty much any situation and the biggest thing for me that projectiles have over missiles is that they can one shot frigates from long range instantly.

In a Golem you'd have to wait for your target painters to cycle to turn them on to the next target to do full damage with torps but if a frigate is 50km out and has a near zero transversal a Vargur can one shot it and it's guns can cycle in about 3 seconds to do it again. The torpedo has a travel time that could ahve been used to pop another 3 frigates...

This.

Also, when you get more isk go for the navy geddon and eventually the paladin.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me you purchased a char that you don't know how to use and arnt willing to admit it

On a side note over the years I've become a fan of the paladin but all races have their ups and downs for both pve and pvp.

No, this is my character from the start. Just always followed my mates around without ever really picking things up. I basically relied on them too much.

Psynapse, I hear you bro. Lol I am a 30m SP noob myself. I started 2-3 years ago however I've been playing on and off too much I can barely do anything.

I have specific mission boats for each region where I live as they each have a different predominant NPC type (like angels or serpentis or blood raiders or guristas). Each ship is especially effective against that specific NPC type (abaddon vs blood raiders for example).

However, if you want ONE mission ship then you want to use a weapon system that can do any type of damage, so that means either missiles or projectiles. A Maelstrom is very nice and a Raven also still is a great mission runner.
Alternatively, you can use a droneboat (altough the DPS is usually a bit lower), like a Dominix.
