Neutrality and The Elsysion

Fellow Capsuleers
Some of you know me well, others only in passing.
For those of you who do not know me, I run a venue, called the Elysion.
It is my vision that this will become a neutral haven for all in new Eden to meet and mingle, regardless of affiliation or background. My only request is that arguments be left at the door. Violence, narcotics and uncivil behaviour will not be tolerated.
As part of this endeavour the venue now hosts a conference room. I hope that this will provide those of differing viewpoints a place to meet and discuss without threat of violence.
Those wishing to take up this offer should contact me or a member of my corporation, in order that arrangements may be made. All security at the venue will be arranged by my head of security.

Sounds interesting. I don't know you nor your Venue, but I'm already on my way to check it out and while my Buzzard autopilots I'll take the time to read some of your documentation.

Not completely neutral and unbiased then.

I fail to see what my stance on narcotics has to do with my open policy of neutrality. There are plenty of places for you to indulge in such things and I'm sure you have places to sell them without needing to use my venue, thus asking people to indulge in nothing stronger than alcohol whilst on the premises is hardly compromising my neutrality.

As far as I have heard about Elysion, it is situated in a territory of occupants, and, speaking more, in the station, that is run by occupant Navy forces.

Taking into account invasive and obsessional tints of gallentean culture and management, I can't imagine being neutral in such installation.

This is exactly the sort of Bias I expect people to leave behind upon entering

Ms. Ember, do you realise, that before entering Elysion you have to enter Federal Navy installation, correct?

I am aware. I have requested safe passage for those visiting. It is up to visitors to be able to restrain their baser impulses.

Ms. Ember...
This is a hostile military base.

I've to admit, this lady is perhaps the most coherent capsuleer I've ever seen. It doesn't matter into what she has this coherence, it is amazing how she keeps it. Props.

I believe you meant 'consistent'.

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

Oh I assure you, after all the ramblings in the summit channels the past few days, 'coherent' also fits.... We live in a dark universe...

That said, while true neutrality is impossible to achieve, Miss Halcyon Ember's venue is among the closest you'll find to being neutral, as she has shown during the Elysion Concerts, allowing capsuleers of a wide variety of background in, with the only cave-at they had to behave, a fair request.

No, in fact I meant coherent, which is among other definitions the "quality of being internally consistent".

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on which kind of relationship you have with Ms. Kim...

Except, several studies categorize Haroulle dryweed as being a milder drug than alcohol, particularly when it it comes to increasing aggressive behaviour in the user.

But I don't sell that, I do however sell alcohol.
It's an unfair universe but if nothing else no one's forcing other people to consume the alcohol.

You are more than welcome to debate the merits of the Elysion's neutrality and the Medical/Social merits of Haroulle Dryweed but you will have to do it outside of the Elysion.

Frankly speaking Mr. Biko the Elysion serves alcohol. There is an expectation and awareness that patrons may drink, sometimes in excess. This is a silent contract we all mentally acknowledge upon entry. Loosening our rules to allowing an ever I creasing myriad of state-altering substances means the expected experience of patrons will change atmosphere of the Elysion. Ms. Ember had and still has a specific vision for her venue and it is entirely upto her what she allows inside and out.

Just because a substance is measured and weighed to be safer or less harmful does not mean that is the atmosphere Ms. Ember wishes to project. She has done her best to make this club as welcoming to "all" as she can, and that doesn't mean "you" it means "everyone."

Individual grievances are weighed against comfort of the whole, Mr. Biko, not the merit of the grievance.

That being said, you are welcome to join us again at the Elysion. Dryweed free of course, and discuss this further over a drink or something to eat.

Sincerely
K. Amsel
