CCP has never marketed the game to the attention deficit disorder crowd. It may be a turn off for people that enjoy grinding, but the skill system does keep people playing. Slow as it may be, the skill system eve has gives quite a bit of satisfaction as all the stacking skills for your ship+guns+mods complete one by one.

Every grinding game i have played where i spend hours beating something to generically level up has left me with almost no satisfaction. I achieve the level where I can use item x, but by then I'm played out, the appeal of equipping the newly usable bling is lost, and I stop playing for the day/night/week.

Now in eve, patience is a virtue. The longest solo fight I ever had was in a domi. I knew I was hours away from ogre II's when I went out to blast some sleepers. I got attacked after a few sites, And the fight went on for 45 min. I lost every drone but the ogre II's and in the last 5 minutes, my skill finished, and I could take out 2 out of 4 of the attacking ships before losing my DPs, tapping the last cap booster and giving GFs in local. I died in a firey ball of lols.

I've played many, many mmo's, and none gave me anything close to that satisfaction. Or even the satisfaction of getting JF IV. Or my first bs, etc.

Patience is a virtue, and its reward in eve is greater satisfaction for that patience. If you don't have the patience, you only deserve pity.

Use the force without consent and the court wont acquit you even if you are a card carryin', robe wearin' Jedi.

I play EvE because of a number of reasons but a big one is the current skill system, it is its own reward in a lot of ways.

Also i despise pay to win games, there is no sense of accomplishment in them. I would quit and all my toons and accounts would go silent if this plex idea or something like it came to pass. And i would be sure to take all my friends and family with me also.

Was not part of the Jita Riots because of poorly constructed micro-transactions? Things that would turn EvE into pay to win?

You can already do this. Its called the Character Bazaar. The only difference is its not your Characters.

-1 / Do not want people buying SP unless through Bazaar or its a new character getting a slight increase.

Training being tied to real time helps keep this game balanced and it needs to stay that way.
And you are wrong, there are far more players in EvE that like the balance the skill train system brings than there are players that hate it, why? Because those that hate it quit. If you do not like the skill training system then quit and go play a game that does offer training in the way you think it should be done.

Actually, I kinda like how I can train skills whilst delivering glorious leather recliners and sofas. Gives me something to look forward to when I finally ascend the stairwell to my apartment and plant my ***.

By chance, do you plant your *** in a "glorious leather recliner/sofa"?

Or are you like one of those chefs who spend all day making fancy food for other people and then come home and eat a TV dinner?

Not sure why so many people hate this idea and claiming this idea is a 'pay to win' idea. Even if a noob can buy all the skills - their skill limit is still V. They still be no better in piloting a frigate vs. someone who is willing to train at normal time.

Skills at V helps in pvp but not necessarily the only determining factor.

PS. Faster training time is not pay to win - it is just accelerating the eventuality that a noob will reach a vet level skills. After skills reach V, they are all on same footing. What PAY TO WIN are link/OGB, pirate implants (slave/snake/crystal) - unless you spend ISK or real $ to buy ISK, you will never be able to gain the same footing in pvp.

Both! I have a Hancock & Moore Austin Highback that I got second-hand. It's in rough shape, but is very comfortable and durable.

Seriously though, accelerating skill training through the use of PLEX would be ruinous.

Sauce.

The only time I could really say that using PLEX for SP is appropriate is for people who maybe have less SP than their maximum amount, i.e. people who lost SP due to clone losses under the old system.

People who unsubbed for any period of time should not be eligible for SP reclamation for their unsubbed time.

Your personal anecdotes aside, after a certain point players are just stacking up hundreds of days worth of skills in a row and completing specialisations.

The skill system in EVE plateau's after about 2 years and you either switch your direction or you spend 600+ days grinding up level 5 skills.

-10,000,000,000,000 times if what you are suggesting is that people can buy PLEX to gain SP. Pay to win has always had a strong rejection from EVE's player base and there is no reason that CCP should introduce this whatsoever.

Lets keep this one short, while this idea is thrown around every now and then it is not something that ever ends well.

There are varying views but ultimately this idea has been pitched before.

I will be locking this thread as for the reason below.
