Howdy all!

I am thrilled to announce Affirmative and Redemption Road's latest community project, NewBro Roams! NewBro Roams are monthly public roams specifically designed with new players in mind! These roams are held once a month, on or as close as possible to the 15th of the month, every month, cycling through the "prime times" of the major time zones.

Our current NewBro Roam schedule is:
Arrow Wednesday, April 15th @ 02:00 out of Berta - FOR THE TIME ZONE IMPAIRED, this is TUESDAY 7:00 p.m. Pacific time!
Arrow Saturday, May 16th @ 23:00 out of Berta
Arrow Sunday, June 14th @ 20:00 location Berta
Arrow Wednesday, July 15th @ 02:00 location Berta

I will continue to update this thread each month with the latest NewBro Roams information.

NewBro Roams are frigate roams with all ships supplied free-of-charge to those who attend. They start out slow, with lots of explanations about everything we do from the moment we undock, travel through highsec into lowsec, then into nullsec. There is quite a bit of "hand-holding" at first, but within no time at all, we are exploding everything in our path!

NewBro Roams are designed for players from one day old through three months, although older players are more than welcome to join the roam, to fly our support ships, help answer questions in fleet chat, and enjoy the awe and excitement of Eve's NewBros as we guide them into their first fights.

NEXT NEWBRO ROAM:
Our next NewBro roam is April 15th at 02:00 Eve time. It will last between 3 and 4 hours (or longer!), depending upon how many fights we find and how often we have to reship. FOR THE TIME ZONE IMPAIRED, this is TUESDAY 7:00 p.m. Pacific time!

WHERE: Berta
You should be in Berta at least 15 minutes before the roam starts, in the station. We'll actually start sending fleet invites and handing out ships to our new and not-so-new pilots about an hour before the roam starts. Flashies meet us in a lowsec near Berta. (Of course, you're a new player, so you're likely not flashy, right?)

WHAT:
We fly a different frigate doctrine on each roam, and for our next one, we will be flying our "Annie" doctrine, which is primarily Executioners, Crucifiers, and Navitas. ALL SHIPS ARE SUPPLIED, free of charge, to all who attend the roam! Just show up, you don't need a ship, we'll be giving you one!.

Our DPS frigates are designed to be very simple yet effective for even the newest of pilots to fly, and generally take less than 8 hours to train for. For those of you with more experience, we'll ask you to fly our ewar and logi frigates to support the fleet, which are also already fit out and ready for you to enjoy!

WHY:
Because we all love new players, especially those who want to make explosions!

FC:
Greygal is FC! Naked clones HIGHLY recommended! Seriously, you want to be in a cheap or naked clone. I am well known for my love of new players, and almost as well known for my love of throwing the fleet at big fleets just to kill one ship!

BEFORE THE ROAM:

1. Set up Teamspeak for voice communication:
We use Affirmative's Teamspeak server for voice communication throughout the roam. You don't need a working microphone, but you do need to be able to hear us. How to set up Teamspeak.
Server: ts.affirmativealliance.com
Password: YES!

2. Join the in-game channel: REDEMPTION ROAD
All fleet requests will be handled through the REDEMPTION ROAD public chat channel.

3. Set your medical clone to Berta.
This way when/if you get podded, you will wake up in Berta and be better able to quickly reship and rejoin the fun. You can read how to do this here.

HOW CAN I HELP?
Spread the word to all the new players you know! The more, the merrier, after all! Show up and join in the fun! Form up a fleet to give us a Good Fight™ and hunt us down!

FAQ:

Does this cost anything?
Nope! Completely free!

Do I need to bring a specific ship?
Nope! We'll be supplying pre-fit T1 frigates free of charge to attendees.

Do I have to be a newbie to join in?
Nope! But we do ask that more experienced pilots bring Patience V with them. This roam will start out pretty slow for the first 30 to 60 minutes, with a lot of explaining of what we are doing and why we are doing it. Being willing to answer questions of the new players in fleet chat is a plus. We also ask that more experienced pilots fly our logi and/or ewar frigates to support the fleet. Bubblers and skirmishers also welcome, of course!

Do I need to sign up in advance?
Nope! Just be in announced staging system, in the Redemption Road in-game channel, and on our Teamspeak server before the announced start time.

Is there a limit to how many people can attend?
Nope! But if there is more than 150 or so, we may split up the fleet into two fleets and send us out in separate directions.

Will I lose my ship or pod?
Yup, plan on it! If we don't get us into a heart-racing, hand-shaking, big ole' messy furball of a fight, we're doing it wrong! Of course, you'll get on a lot of killmails, too, so it's worth it!

Can I change the fit of the ship?
If you have somewhat higher skills, you can (at your own expense) upgrade the existing modules to T2 modules, but please don't change the actual fit of the ship. It's okay to upgrade to T2 turrets, DCU, etc.

Can I bring my Drake?
Nope! If you do, I'll trade you a frigate for it. Or I'll send you out two systems ahead of us as bait. ;)

Can I hot-drop the fleet?
That'd be a big giggle! If you do plan on hot-dropping us, please consider hot-dropping us with something appropriate to the occasion - remember, this is about getting new players excited about PVP, fleet fights, lowsec, nullsec, and explosions. Hot-dropping us with smart-bombing battleships that potentially insta-pop the entire fleet is not conducive to these goals. Hot-dropping us with a fleet similar to ours for an awesome Good Fight™ is highly welcome. Of course, I can't tell you what to throw at us, just ask with lots of "pretty pleases" that you bring a Good Fight™ to our fleet, so as to make it a good experience for all involved.

When's the next one?
We'll be doing NewBro roams every month. There is a subject-to-change schedule of NewBro Roams planned for the next few months in the top post. These dates and times are subject to change, so just use them as a guideline for now. Remember, all times are Eve time!

I've updated the OP for our next NewBro Roam, which is December 14th, 2014 at 20:00 Eve time out of Berta. I'll update this thread with more specifics as/if needed when we get closer to the date.

We had a lot of fun on the NewBro Roam earlier today! Unfortunately, I did not manage to whelp the fleet, sigh... I tried, I really tried... but we did manage to kill over a billion isk in ships, lost 3 or 4 frigates, traveled somewhere between 95 and 115 systems, and roamed for about five hours. It was a very fun tour of New Eden, and a brief AAR (that I need to finish writing lol!) of the roam is here.

Just updated the OP with the details for this month's NewBro Roam!

Our next NewBro Roam is January 15th at 03:00 Eve time. (That's WEDNESDAY 8pm Pacific time for the time-zone impaired!)

We're flying Charlie Brown this time - Rifters, Slashers, Griffins and Navitas! Ships will be provided free to all who attend this roam!

So many thanks to all who came out for our NewBro roam this past February 15th. It was an amazing roam, with a remarkable variety of experiences for which I'm so thankful to all who formed up to provide the NewBros an incredible experience! We had smartbombing battleship camps, big brawly furball fights, tactical bubble traps, hair-raising escapes, and countless giggles!

I've updated the OP for our next NewBro Roam, which is Saturday, March 15th at 03:00 out of Berta. FOR THE TIME ZONE IMPAIRED, this is SATURDAY 8:00 p.m. Pacific time!
