I have returned after a year or so of game hopping, and I logged into total confusion. The last thing I remember doing was mining and searching for relic sites. Are those things still useful? Also I enjoyed some gambling type site (Somerblink) could do in game, but that seems to be shut down. Are there any more like that? I guess I am mainly looking for a push in the right direction after returning. Thanks for any help.

Everything is useful, if you enjoy it. Really do as you please.

If you like mining, go forth and mine.
If you enjoy PvP, fit a ship and shoot at other ships.
If you enjoy trading, set up shop and trade.
If you like exploring, fit a ship and explore. There have been Null Sec exploration sites added to wormholes lately.
If you like mission running, look for a mission hub and run missions.
etc.

You can't really die. You will always have at least a rookie ship to fly. You can't even lose skills by getting podded anymore.
Have fun.

Exploration sites definately, maybe not so much in high sec as elsewhere.
Mining - haven't done it in ages, but it used to be relaxing. If it's boring is up to you to decide. ISK wise there is much better venues available.

Somerblink closed down yes, there is Crink http://crink.corelicorp.net/ which is about the same thing.
Modesty forbidds me to name the corp that runs it ...

I guess this is as good a thread to exploit as any since I had the exact same question as the thread topic when I logged in again after five years of inactivity.

A couple of folks have suggested going through the tutorials again since there is more utility to them than before. I created a new character and went through a couple of career agents in high sec. Mining, distribution, and some other basics.

What is the status of RP in EVE these days? I've got great standings with the Angel Cartel and might be interested in more PvE with the Angels in Curse. I've been a member of more than one RP corp before.

I guess these types of nebulous threads are more attention-seeking than anything else. Sorry about that. Maybe I'll just browse the corp recruitment threads and look for inspiration there! Big smile

EVE is a gankfest. Join CODE. They'll assign you a system to gank miners in. Go gank miners. Get bored out of your ever-lovin' mind. Post a ragequit post for us, then reroll your toon and do it again. It's called "emergent gameplay" and those who are in the know call it "content creation."

Why is it it's assumed everyone loves this BS-tormenting of language unless one is a victim? EGO! That's right! No adolescent can resist being called a "content creator" by a gaming company! I get it! I get it! I can see them telling their girlfriends, "I'm a content creator."
To her reply, "Not with ME."

It makes sense now. No. Really.

The right to free speech doesn't automatically carry with it the right to be taken seriously.

I'd try to work out what this exactly means, but when I waste gray matter I prefer it's done with a single malt.

Mining is the lowest effort activity in the game. You went from that to something even lower effort: gambling.

If I may suggest, fit up an Atron, find a friend (yell in Corp), and go roaming in lowsec. It will get your heart rate up and it will make it more likely that you'll want to login again to do something scary.

If you send me your lossmail I'll double what you lost so that you can try it again. How about it?

Here's abquick list of things you can briefly try to get a better understanding of what you like now. Just ideas and topics to spark the mind:

Mining
Ratting
Incursions
Epic arc missions
Exploration (data and relic sites in high, low, null, and wormhole space)
Solo pvp roaming
Small gang pvp
Larger fleet pvp
Industry
Trading (to include moving valuables between dangerous locations)
PI (yuck)
Highsec ganking
POS owning (to include all work associated with it)
Joining a nullsec bloc
Fighting a nullsec bloc
Meta gaming
Forum mongering
Scamming
Corp/alliance espionage
AWOXing
Helping new pilots (or fighting then I geuss)

There's a lot of stuff to try in eve you just need to be willing to spend some time on things you may not be familiar with.

I think you both failed to be honest.
