a lot of PI goods are trending upwards, some more than others. same with stuff made from these materials

what's actually happening here ? i don't really see that much increased demand or decreased supply. am i missing anything ?

I've noticed this too - Robotics were trending upward.

I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com

Another fairly noticable increase is nanite repair paste. Only a minor increase in demand the last few months (a few % at most), yet price has gone up 20-25%+.

I don't monitor all PI items, but since I used to play with Electrolytes a lot, I still keep a close eye on that (and maybe on 2 or 3 other items, too Blink).

Some days ago someone bought up all of the stock in Jita... at least he tried to. I assumed an attempt to manipulate the market (and I'm still not convinced that there's more to it) and let the price go up before starting to sell my stock, which stabilized prices for a while (I used to have enough to fill all buy orders several times, even the silly ones). Surprisingly I ran dry after some time (after making some very nice profit, of course). After that the price climbed a lot higher than I expected (guess I should have waited a little longer, before selling my stuff P) and reached a peak a few days ago. Since then the price is coming down again, so I assume the PI producers adjusted their production plans and are increasing supply atm. Or - if there was a manipulation attempt - someone is liquidating his assets, trying to come out with a positive balance.
