I read online that you can lock 2 target simultaneously without any training. How do you do that?

Repeat until you hit the maximum.

You don't even have to wait for any lock to complete.

With no skill each pilots only gets 2 targets.

Some ships can lock 10-12 targets.

Example:

Vargur Marauder. Maximum Locked Targets: 10.

With an Auto Targeting System II fitted and online (doesn't have to be active though), a Marauder's targeting electronics are capable of locking 13 targets.

Unfortunately a pilot's brain can only manage at most 12.

CTRL left-click on overview will defiantly save me some clicks.
Thanks for the tip.

Bastion mode gives +3 targets.

*LAUGH* I was wondering why I maxed my targeting skill for my Vargur.

Thanks for reminding me!

EDIT: The longer I play this game, the more I forget.

It means you can have two things targeted at the same time, not that you can target two things in one move.

Understood.

How is the Target Managment Skill useful?
+1 extra target per skill level, up to the ship's maximum allowed number of targets locked.

I'm reading this as the maximum number of targets being set by the ship. So if you ship's maximum is 2 this skill has no impact. Conversely if you ship's maximum is 4 this skill still has no impact.

Thank You for your time.

No,.

By default you can lock up 2 targets.

EAch level of skill adds 1...so at level 5, you can lock 7 targets (OR the maximum a ship can handle).

So if ship can handle 5 targets, it can lock 5 targets, if you have the skills to lock 5 targets (skill trained to level 3 or above).

There is an autotargetting module. I don't know exactly how it works nor do I know anyone that has ever even tried it but it is a high slot item that increases the number of targets that you can lock without having to train skills if for some reason you are trying to avoid that. Again I'm not recommending you use it I'm just saying that it exsists.

If you Ctrl + left click on targets in your overview you can target multiple things very quickly it won't be exactly at the same time but it will be a fraction of a second apart. Also if you want to target more things at once up to the limit of your ship the targeting skill "Target Management" is a 1X training multiplier which means it is the fastest training skill level in game.

I've given some advice here since I am not exactly sure what you are trying to do maybe if you give a specific description of what you would like to do we might be able to better tell you how to do it.

Also questions like this I take as evidence that you don't have any friends in game that you can go to and ask questions as you go. For this reason I strongly recommend that you make some friends in game. Either join a new player friendly corp or join some public chat channels maybe even the public chat channels for various corps trying to recruit new players. How ever you do it get some friends that can answer the random question here and there that you can have some back and forth with and not have to come to the forums and wait for an answer.

Also don't be afraid to talk in local and ask for help there. Some players might smart off to you but more often you'll find helpful people. Eve is known for it's helpful player base.

Wasnt there an option in the options screen where you can auto-lock things that lock you? I remember a corpmate of mine was shouting at another corpmate, because he was logi and trying to rep, and everytime he did so, the guy would auto-targetlock him back.

Before the safety system, it was a great way to get yourself killed.

One of the first things I do is set it to 0 (don't auto-lock targets).

Locking on some ships takes significant time, and I don't want to have to wait for a lock to complete so I can unlock and lock what I really wanted.

Target locks are also limited, so I don't want them filled with useless stuff. Only a human pilot can decide what is best to lock first.

This, the amount of times I had to shout at people while being logi-bro to "Turn your F-ing Auto-lock off and shoot the enemy instead of your own logi" can't be measured anymore.
