The Untapped Potential of Drive-Thrus (what are the possibilites?)

In keeping with our American tradition of fat asses, suburban sprawl, and driving everywhere to do everything, it would seem that drive-thrus are woefully underdeveloped and there is a vast amount of untapped potential in services and goods that could be adeptly rendered via the drive-thru mechanism.

A pretty vanilla list of current drive-thru uses:

  • fast food
  • bank deposits and withdrawals
  • pharmacy
  • mailboxes

More unusual drive-thru goods and services:

  • marriage
  • liquor purchases

The first proposal I'd like to offer, that would deliver the end user convenience, is for voting in elections. Simply drive up to a ballot printing machine, say "I'd like a ballot please", and while waiting for the line to advance, select your candidates. When arriving to the window, simply hand the poll worker your ballot, and ID if needed, to check voter registration and eligibility.

What other untapped markets are there for drive-thrus? What are the possibilities?

I saw a drive trough funeral home somewhere awhile back. You could drive up to a window and pay your respects to the deceased.

I also believe there is a drive through gun shop too somewhere.

Aren't those the two biggest industries in Florida?

Anyway, I think there should be drive-thru watch vendors, so to satisfy my unhealthy obsession with watches.

Australian drive-thrus:

  • Bottle shops - liquor purchases, as you put it. These are common place.
  • Fast food
  • Coffee
  • Dope dealer (kinda)

Drive-thru voting is a novel idea but **** that traffic jam. Let's just waist more fuel sitting in line. If Mc Ds can't perfect the drive-thru, what chance does the government have.

how about:

  • drive-thru hot towel (like you get in restaurants)
  • drive-thru comedians (three joke maximum)
  • drive-thru peepshow (one minute maximum)
  • or
  • park your car
  • walk a few metres
  • you lazy bastards

There was a drive through convenience store here a few years ago. Was a big building you drove into where you could get your beer and smokes along with some basic grocery necessity's.
