Hoo,

Seeing as the ship will have a bonus to optimal innately and tracking in Sharpshooter mode... Is the arty setup the only one viable? Blink

Now, I haven't used small arties in over 5 years - what is the optimal on unbonused ships for 280mm with Tremor and EMP? No access to EFT/Eve atm. Oops

svipul isn't good with 10mn since it's agility is actually lower than the confessor.

Sticking a 10mn might make it go fast but the lack of turn speed is going to make it unusable with that much mass addition.

If you're going to fight long range there probably isn't much of a reason to use it over a Stabber

small artillery isn't really "long range" it's mid range at best and works very well in scram kiting.

Yeah sorry, you're right, small arties are "mid-range" not long range

And yeah small arties are also definitely good for scram range fighting if used properly

Still I don't know that I would use this Svipul over a Stabber. It's probably about ten times the price and can realistically perform almost the same role in any given situation

Maybe once the price goes down, but I'm sure lots will wanna fly it just for the epeen factor.

I've seen how effective the Confessor is in our nightly fleets, but I don't like the Confessor or its modes.

The Svipul, on the other hand, is freaking awesome.

I don't care that they will be expensive for a while. My killboard efficiency might drop a bit when I lose a few, but that's not what I'm about.

I want to pilot the Winmatar tactical destroyer, because vertical.

I'm looking forward to seeing what CCP comes up with for the Caldari and Gallente tactical destroyers too.

When I finally do make an impact on this universe, it will reverberate across the entirety of it, and no one will be able to truthfully claim they don't know me. - -

I've got seven fits in Pyfa for the Svipul so far, and I've already bought 20 hulls. Not at home at the moment, so I can't post 'em up yet.

With the armor and shield resist bonuses in Defense mode, I've made three dual-rep (MASB+SAAR) fits to take advantage. It's the only ship I've ever done that with. Who knows ... they might actually work.

I do have to say I like the AC fits better. I've always preferred knife-range combat.

Dual rep may seem like a good idea but it will pigeonhole you into using defensive mode pretty much 100% of the time and you lose out on the other two very power switches.

this is the one I'm using atm and the basis is that you stay in prop mode most of the time to scram kite and use sharpshooter mode when something is starting to get under guns.

With prop mode a regular 1mn AB will make you go as fast as most scram kiter frigates and obviously will have a large range advantage as well.

making the scram shiny will exponentially increase your efficiency as well since it means other ships will be able to apply even less damage since you can keep them further away.

The more popular kitey ships can be run down with MWD in prop mode as well, it's definitely a good boat so far.
