Meta 4 vs T2

Why are some meta 4 moduals that are better than the t2 version cheaper? For example, in amarr a 'Hypnos' Signal Distortion Amplifier I costs only ~200k and uses one less cpu and has all the same stats as the t2 version, but the t2 mod costs 1.7m and has about the same trade volume.

No one knows.

However, CCP is correcting it as they tiericide the modules, so rejoice! Soon your fewer meta options will all be worse than T2.

I'm not sure about meta levels. I only go by the modules name....‼️♐️♑️♒️♓️⛎🔯

Meta4 you would think would be a rare item making the cost of it much higher than the t2 mod in reference. Remember with a t2 there's even further training modifiers for most of them making it slightly superior.

It's there was a way to test who's paying attention ;)

This is especially true on ECM, where the stats are the same, but Meta4 overheats better :)

Perhaps it's because of this magical thing called a player driven market.

It costs something like 1.7m worth of materials (including time, skills, and cost to manufacture) to make a T2 SDA, they are never dropped as loot from red crosses, and the only way to get them is buying them from other players.

Meanwhile a meta 4 SDA is dropped by red crosses and the general market has decided on a price. If you disagree with the price, why don't you buy all the meta 4's and relist them at the price you think they should be valued at?

for years meta 4 was rare and expensive. now with the noctis, mobile tractor units, the robust tech 2 market, and whatnot, most meta 4 items are very well supplied.

Nonetheless that thread is the one the Devs have stated they're keeping an eye on.

If the OP is now outdated (though bear in mind that changes in demand due to recent ship tweeks may be short lived) then you could simply post an update to the OP - if you retain the same format and list what has appeared on the list, what has dropped off and why; follow the same rules and perhaps it will come to the attention of those who're currently looking at the issue.

I might expect the Recon changes to have spiked demand for a few items - though it remains to be seen whether those spikes will have a long term effect...

If any meta 4 item has an ok-ish droprate in high-sec, it'll usually be cheaper than the tech 2 variant (hell, lower metas can be cheaper than their tech 1 counterparts)

I tryed this actually. I went to all the trade hubs and bought 2.5k of them. The prices got dropped back down because somebody decided they wanted the sell orders to be dirt cheap instead of makeing a larger profit.
