If you think everyone everywhere is flying cheap ships blow up anyone in a highsec PVP corp. Blue and green guaranteed.

Faction fit pirate battleships as a fleet doctrine covered by SRP? That's a thing in highsec PVP.

I tend to imagine the people behind the keyboard, moreso than the immersion shooting the red blinkies. The last huge (MONUMENTAL) battle, for instance, was not planned. It was purely accidental, and it ran for DAYS. Initially, people were being called on the telephone to come home from WORK and man that almighty ship and get your @$$ out there, immediately, if not SOONER!

Well, I can't help but imagine a lot of these digital warriors obliged by social contract to faithfully respond are IRL bread-winning adults responsible for house payments, loan payments, dental bills, the litany - and may be able to get away with explaining this ONE departure from sanity for the sake of a "video game", but should it not just become habitual, but if just ONE more such instance should arise on the heels of the last one....well, there's a whole lot of 'splainin' that'd be goin' on and not many people listenin'.

As one of these bill-paying, army of people depending upon me adult types myself it's easy to imagine behind the various keyboards involved rockets going off that would dwarf any battle ever fought in EVE, and the offense would be dancin' on our poor fellow players' heads. SO.....don't forget. This present stasis may have a life of its own...if you look real close.

Paradise is like where you are right now, only much, much better.

Righto Bros this is my opinion as to why we will no longer see massive eve battles

Theories are

1- Too many blues

2- more and more MMOs flooding the market (they'll come back but some peeps may never see eve in the first place)

3- A large scale battle is crap if it hasn't got titans and now the titan is crap and there really only for appearances

4- a tendency of wielding cheap ships this is occurring in All secs

5- pilots in high sec are no longer even interested in null or wh space and this space in increasingly going silent

summery

we didn't treat our noobs well and now we have a power vacuum and we are drawing in far to many accountants who are not interested in big war unless they profit

Wish to add?

You're assumptions are only partially correct with point 3. Pheobe stopped rapid deployments by active players, be that either Capital or subcapital (Several alliances last year were kicked out of their space or had deployments ended with no capital fights - See Kadeshi and Darkness getting beaten by European Goonion). Entrenched alliances with supercapitals cannot be challenged in local superiority anymore and since space aids people use wormholes to move so this is why everyone is now using cruiser sized subcaps. This all in turn is horrifically boring and thus no one is doing anything remotely approaching sov war.

I've never been interested in null or massive fleet battles and I've been dabbling in EVE on and off since 2004.

Past 800-1000 or so pilots in system you start running into tidi. Watching your module cycles crawl for hours on end while you accomplish hardly anything doesn't seem like time well spent to me. I'm surprised anyone can be arsed to put up with that nonsense.

It is simple, war has moved, no more space conquer. The Holy War has been brought upon High Sec with Suicide Ganking and Can flipping, just so that Eve does not become a theme park. THIS is the real danger for Eve. So We will now conquer High Sec, make the carebear suffer for their unallowed safe greediness.

no longer see massive fleet battles. . . . . . .

Hmmmm

How many titans and supercaps were destroyed in the last few battles?

How long does it take to replace that many big ships?

Big fleet battles will always be a part of EVE, as will periods of quiet while those destroyed are replaced, preferably doubled if you lost the battle!!

Just wait till someone messes up a jump bridge again. . . . .

There are always conflicts going on, you just don't always hear about them. Right now the conflicts aren't of a very large scope, no one is really trying to kill anyone else.

Solar, with the help of some friends, tried to make a play for the dronelands, but it failed and feathered out for the moment.

There are also battles going on in the deep south, of a similar nature, as some of the Russian groups try to take space again. They just don't have the numbers to be a massive threat right now. They lost too many pilots in the Halloween war who have yet to come back to Eve.

Goons and some of the CFC are doing fun developments around Curse and Delve. And BL have gone back to Venal.

Everyone is mostly just siting on their hands as we all a wait the coming nullsec SOV changes.

This is what will kill Eve, the continued momentum towards a theme park MMO, not imagined blue donuts (which have been talked about for years now), more MMOs (many of which fail out of the gate), or any of the others points you are vainly trying to make. Only the further abandonment of the roots of Eve will be the cause of this fine game's demise. People come to Eve because it is unlike all other MMOs out there, and trying to make it such can only spell doom for Eve.

Do you want to save Eve? Speak out against these changes and work to make a difference.

I sometimes have to wonder when the harshness of space was replaced with the soft foamy feel of a theme park.

Jump Fatigue made it massively harder to move around the ships required to conduct large scale warfare, whilst doing nothing to make conflict more attractive.

What did anyone expect to happen?

I can put "What did anyone expect to happen?" at the end of a lot of grievances about game mechanics and features. Funny though even the developers will say they are not entirely sure of what would happen. Cool

I thought at downtime the ships disappeared from space
