Graphics driver crashes when on grid with gates

This issue started happening to me after the new UI was launched. Sometimes when I land on grid with a stargate, the graphics driver crashes, the screen flickers and then goes black as the driver re-starts. Does anyone recognize this issue and have a fix?

Specs:
Alienware M15X
Win 7 Home Premiun 64 bit
Intel i5 M 430 @ 2.27Ghz CPU
4 gig RAM
Direct X 11 latest version installed
Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M (latest drivers installed)

I tried re-installing EVE, updating the graphics driver, clearing the cache - nothing helps.

I really need help, this is pretty much killing my ability to play.

the only thing that comes to mind you could try is starting with dx 9 and see if the same thing happens...

will not solve the problem but if it doesn't happen then well... i don't know what to do then either :/

Until recently I used an Alienware M17xR1 with two GTX280M cards so I'm a little confused as to how you are actually using the latest drivers. I can only assume you haven't patched it with all the Dell fixes as one of them changes the firmware on the gfx card(s) - they have some hideous timing issues which I'm not going into here - but as a result of that you cannot use NVidia drivers released over the last 3-4 years as the installer refuses to recognise the cards as supported.

Having said that I do not have any of the issues you describe & that's with drivers dated October 2010.

The main cause of the gfx drivers crashing on the Alienware are (IMHO) caused by an interaction between Flash plugins (IE seems worse than FF) & the Alienware Control Panel/Keyboard (specifically the virtual keyboard & mouse which Alienware creates).

Nvidia released a new driver-installing suite, I forget what it's called, but that installed the new driver just fine. However, I had the problem before and after I installed the drive this way, so it doesn't seem to be relevant.

I've also found that the problem only happens with Caldari stargates, something seems to happen with the textures for the gate.

I've had a couple of reports in the past week that seem to point towards the same issue you are having. Would you kindly submit a bug report from the in-game tool (accessible from the bottom of the F12 menu) so we can get your logs and system setup? If you could mention specific gates (for instance Urlen - Sirppala is one that comes to mind) that would be most excellent.

Thanks Sledgehamer, I will do that next time I'm in. I have some additional information I'll be able to add to that report as well. Thank you.

so i just did a test and it worked or i should say it didn't work actually :P i was able to reproduce the crashes. its due to having "vertex processing" option set to use "software processing" when i switched it back to use "default settings" and warped to a gate it was all good so id say check that out Niden and Sledgehammer i think you can put that in your notes ;)
