I bought an original boxed copy of Battlecruiser 3000 A.D. when it came out (back when Electronics Boutique still had a large PC section... and actual stores). I even managed to play it for a little while. I couldn't get the game to stay running for longer than 17 minutes at a stretch.

I went back to Frontier: Elite II.

CCP has been developing EVE for 10+ years.
Derek Smart has been working on his waycomplex space sim concept, for 20+ years, largely by himself.
He has the tenacity of a bulldog.
A few similarities ;)
