Sorry, posted this in the wrong thread. Basically, I did not encounter a super weapon, nor did I die, or even come close.

If you look in the overview of the ship with damage, there are two other Drifter battleship wrecks. I went through five of them, with a spawn of 5 circadians in between the third and fourth Drifter spawn.

Was really just an afk carrier rep (non-triage) and sig tank deal, and I checked my damage logs, and no volleys were notable. They all ranged from 1k to 2k per.

Maybe they're broken today, on Sisi.

Maybe they don't respond to fighter damage, or drone damage. The hypothesis that the shields might gather damage to spit it out all at once seemed like a plausible one. I'll get back on and try using triple Vindicator DPS next. (I'm being a travelling carebear and brought fully fit Vindicators for the rains, in the carrier ship maintenance bays)

Something like Bastion mode, for being completely immobile... is probably not the best way to try to survive a Drifter.

Spotted an unidentified wormhole beacon in Scolluzer just now, if anyone is interested in seeing Drifters firsthand.

I think they just recently added the superweapon (and buffed it), no? When you did this test?

just took one on in a tengu... got through the blue shields then it just 1shot my tengu.

although, if the normal shields are like the blue layer the things are made out of paper... but stacked like bricks of printer paper that still hurt like a truck when some one throws one at your head.

If you were using drones to attack it, it targeted and destroyed one of the drones with its superweapon. It will only target you with it if you have aggression- we had a guy in a carrier TP it and then use drones to test the weapon; it fired on him, and not his drone.

And as for bastion- the turrets, sure- but the doomsday has no tracking.

I can attest to the power of paper brick, when I was a wee lad and worked for fedex to pay for college, the only thing we had to amuse ourselves was throwing 20 pound stacks of paper at eachother, than and sneaking up behind our bosses with a megaphone and turning the siren on

Assuming resists actually work, how much damage was that?

In the first round of 3 Drifters, I didn't lose any fighters. It wasn't until the fourth and fifth that I lost one each. Those first three Drifters were keen on shooting a Phobos, rather than drones. I wanted to find more Drifters last night, to test other weapon types and see whether drones would confused the Drifters consistently. I'll try again later, probably.

That's pretty funny if the superweapon activation clashes with the NPC AI and its prioritization of drones vs hull.

Doomsdays not using tracking is news to me. I was under the impression that non-MWD Phobos might have sig-tanked the Drifters.

Rain, did you say you encountered groups of drifters?

at one point, yeah, I had three Drifters shooting my Phobos. None of them activated a super weapon.

I didn't have wrecks enabled in overview, but there is one in the scene somewhere. I can't spot it at the moment.

If it was easier to find another drifter womrhole beacon, I could continue testing them.

My DPS configuration was fighters delegated to cruisers, who had activated the fighters on the Drifters. So maybe somewhere in there, the Drifters got confused and never DD'd me.

Interesting- this necessitates more testing Smile

I'm just curious as to how more than one spawned. No additional ships have appeared after one was destroyed in any of the engagements I've seen so far.

dunno, the number of Drifters doesn't coincide with the number of caps I had on grid, either. Had 4 carriers, 3 Drifters showed up. After that it was a group of 5 Circadians, then two Drifters that trickled in one at a time.

If it's a bug, I'm not filing a support ticket. It took me way too long to find the beacon in the first place, and I want CCP to use their damn forums more. So i'm just leaving the report here.

if it does then the superweapon has really high tracking. Can't remember what my transversal was but my tengu was going at over 700ms with an afterburner and max skilled links from a claymore and it still got blapped by the super weapon.

So the Drifter faction finally has a description :

"Emerging from the ruins of the Sleeper civilization spread throughout Anoikis - otherwise known as "W-space"- the Drifters represent a tremendous challenge and perhaps a dire threat to the empires and capsuleers alike.
Seemingly the inheritors of a legacy left behind by some of the most ancient Jove, the Drifters are unafraid to wield tremendous power in response to any who get in their way. In this regard, the Drifters are a very different conundrum than the relatively benign presence that was the Jove Empire."

Also their member corp - Vigilant Tyrannos (which seems to be their militant wing ) :

"CONCORD intelligence reports indicate that Drifter military formations are operating under a single command structure represented by an enclave level organization with the designation "Vigilant Tyrannos". Despite monitoring the movements of ships broadcasting the identifier of this organization, no further information as to the motivation or goals of this force has been gleaned."

So they are the the remnants of the Sleepers?...hmm...
Also their home station is in M-MD3B , deep within the Great Wildlands, Thukker Tribe territory...
