Op ,
there is no endgame* content here,
you set yourself goals and attempt to achieve those dispite the rest of us,
you don't need clear goals but always try to have fun.
You do something for as long as you find it engaging/profitable And if it's neither of those, stop and do something else.

* I'm assuming this is what you mean when you say "ultimate evolution of".

This.

Unlike other games...there is no simple "End Game", so everybody will end up as someone different, as each and every player will have to set / has set his/her own goals and how to achieve those.

So look at 10k different players, and you will get 10k different characters and stories.

So:

* Set yourself goals
* Try stuff out.
* Have fun.

Simple as that....basically...

Too bad, then it isn't that simple in the end (goals will shift, you will find out that some stuff doesn't suit you which you didn't expect to happen, fun stuff will change).

also,
once you get settled in,
don't allow yourself to get bored the magic happens about I<---------this---------->I far out of your comfort zone so try new things,
iv been playing for nearly two years and i have only done a fraction of what i can do here

welcome. this game is not like others there isn't much of a safety net. Don't get to thinking that there must be some type of game mechanic to protect you from what ever like in other games. Pretty much anything is fair game, scamming, trickery and what ever kind of asshattery that you can imagine. As long as you understand that up front you'll probably be fine.

Hello {ergherhdfgh},

Wnat I want to know is Why you choose to play like that? Is everyone like this?

Do you think it's the Ultimate Evolution of a Eve player?

Is that where all this takes you? Becasue I don't want to do those types of things to othe players...

Is there another way to play?

Welcome.

No, scamming ganking and war deccing are not compulsory at all. Loads of us aren't interested in that game play at all.

What is important is that you accept it in the game and expect it. That way you can take it on the chin when it happens and not get down about it. You do need thick skin to make it in New Eden, but its worth the effort.

Actual 'griefing' is quite rare in the game and not ignored. google 'Erotica1' if you want an example of how it is handled by the community themselves.

Take a deep breath, undock, and explode. You're in for quite a ride.

What , How and Why did you Evolve yourself to beome more of a Mercenary Pilot other than lets say a "Benevolent Pilot"?

ill take this as im a merc

One would find a (newbie friendly in your case) mercenary corporation/alliance and apply ,

if you dont have pvp experience the corp would train you and provide simple but engaging roles for you as your knowledge and experience with the game grows,
you would be told what is beneficial for you to train and would likely have some ships provided for you ,
fo example we have an armour doctrine so our members are encouraged to train in armour tanking.

its worth noting that not all merc corps are new player friendly ,
we are "sortof" in that we will take newbros on but our methods would entail activly using a second account
(which not a lot of new players will do).

mercenary work is exactly what it says on the tin,you get paid for your pvp prowess.

the exact details of what this entail vary from client to client,
some want x amount of damages inflicted upon a target corp,
some want specific people killed,
some want their mining operations halted
some want player sttructures destroyed
some cant defend themselvs and pay for protection.

Am I safe with Eve Univercity? I mean they are the ones I've been thinking of joining....

I'm reading absolute Horror stories of people joining Corp's and just getting Flat out taken advantage of....

Ho do I know which ones are Legit? There must be some way to know beforehand....

finding a player corp is something you should do, here is a guide written by one of the regular posters here in ncq&a,
you can find it stickied atop this subforum.

...I do have one more question if you will...

Once you cross the line and become a Ruthless Mercenary, is it possible to have a change in Heart and go back to "Benevolence"?

I've played other MMO's before, but never this complex and where your knowledge actually plays a huge part of how things go....other than knowing which skills hit the hardest and which ones work best for PVP and or PVE and so on...
It's a difficult concept to grasp if you get too far into the game before bad things happen to you and when they do the reaction is usually making a fool or yourself or rage quitting. Understanding it from the beginning is one of the keys to enjoying yourself and coming up with creative or different ways of doing things.

Lady Allora Antollare wrote:

I have some questions for you though...and here they are....

What , How and Why did you Evolve yourself to become more of a Mercenary Pilot other than lets say a "Benevolent Pilot"?
First off, I'm not really a Merc, Mercs get paid to do others dirty work. I'm not really for hire, if you need help and are a friend I will generally do it for free. If you are looking for a real life comparison, I am more of a pirate than anything else. I commandeer your ship by blowing it up and pick through your booty hoping the valuable items you were carrying are still there after you blow up.

How: Train skills specific to flying gank ships, This will get you started if interested. Observe others to learn how it is done. (This is how you find them) Do it!

My subset of ganking is targeting industrial haulers, I scan for haulers that have a poor tank (the defensive mods you put on your ship) and a high value, usually over 200 mil isk. (this is simply my personal limit, many will kill you just to kill you even if you have nothing profitable to take) Then I kill them and scoop whatever loot drops. (This requires 2-3 accounts)

I was lucky as when I first started ganking I met another ganker by way of being baited into trying to kill his hauler and failing miserably. That's a great story with many lessons to be learned from it but there is too much to explain for one post. Anyhoo, after I failed miserably I convoed the ganker and we became good friends and he mentored me and taught me many things about "being the bad guy"

Why:The reason I started this character (I have a few others) is it brings many of the aspects of the game together while supplying a healthy dose of fun. The main reason I do it is that it provides a substantial income stream without being a grind. (although this is a matter of opinion as many simply don't have the patience to do what I do) The scondary reason I do it is it's social aspects, people react in many different ways, some don't do much of anything, some will convo you and ask for advice, some will rage and make fools of themselves then do foolish things like lose more ships to me, some will actually come back and hunt you and then there are the rare few that will become good friends.

The last two I mentioned are the ones you really like as they inject more content into the environment. Although sadly most that decide to hunt you are not competent or patient enough to do it effectively. There have been a few and while we may not be friends they certainly have my respect.

Then there are the other gankers who are not friends, the thing about ganking for profit is it quickly becomes very crowded if there are too many of you, so I proactively run other gankers out of my area by messing with them, the ones who are weak will just go away and the ones who are strong will make your life difficult and you will make theirs difficult, through that friction great friendships or rivalries can and do get formed.

Lady Allora Antollare wrote:

You refer to yourself as a "suicide ganker"....Does that mean you throw youself under the bus to take the person out?

I guess I would like some clarification on that terminology if you please...
Essentially yes.
Suicide ganking is sacrificing your ship to kill another. When you aggress (use an offensive module) someone in high-sec you get a criminal flag, when that happens you can't warp away, leave the system or dock and you must lose your ship. In return you are able to use your ship to achieve your objective as long as you can do it in the time before the police arrive (CONCORD). This is at most 26 seconds and in the higher sec status systems it is a much shorter amount of time.
