the ability to log information on a system such as star color that the map can then use for systems that don't have this logged by default

be able to see all systems around a system (i can do this with the constellation map already so why not)

an option to turn on an AU and a LY overlay

Is there any plans to enable users of the new map to collapse/stack it by double clicking the top of the window like other windows?

Thanks.

Are there any attempts for adding a signature mapping function to the map? At the moment there are several 3rd Party Programs for use, but having this function ingame could be great improvement for wormholers and those who do exploration.

Is there still any progress in develpement of the new map? It is stagnating for a while now.

The one feature I wish they would bring back would be the ability to pan the map. It was really useful for focusing the map on a given region of your choosing.

Hullo!

I spend 95% of the game in the map. Part of it is performance reasons, part of it is the need for information and doing my trade routes. So I am VERY concerned about a new map filled with fancy shmancy glow effects and reduced functionality. I feel we rather need ADDED features to the EXISTING map. But maybe the new map was designed with a better back-end system, so I will give it the benefit of doubt... with critique!

GOOD THINGS FIRST
- It looks like it deals better with the system map. Celestials are nicely grouped and show a lot better how many things are in each stack... except when the stack is too big, then it cuts out above!
- It does not obstruct my screen with yellow "Waypoint xx - blabla" lines. However, sometimes I WANT to see my destinations I set on the map, in a less text-intrusive way. So it would be nice to have an option in the main header to toggle "show waypoint locations on/off"
- Region names are less intrusive. Which is nice. But I cannot turn them off when I want to, which is not nice.
- Running lines for the route show immediately which direction we are going. But waypoint line flow caters to the last waypoint, not the first. Maybe reverse that?
- Grouping in universe map is a great way to blend out unnecessary things when you need to focus on a certain subset. But it would be nice if we had an option to toggle the "related adjacent connections" on or off. Sometimes I want to see which systems my Constellation / Region connects to!
- Merge between system map and universe map is a step in the right direction... if only the transitions where faster. I'm horrified by the game trying to zoom into system map every time I open it, fighting with the scrollwheel to keep it away. Scrolling speed in Eve is already bad, but the new map makes it even worse. So right now I don't like the merge at all, but I can see merit if the transitions are better. Like... with an extra button on header or something for a quick zoom to system and back?

BAD THINGS NEXT
...Oh boy... where do I start?
- You cannot right click to drag the map around. Really now? I have to click from system to system to get somewhere?
- The glow... THE GLOW. Seriously, turn it down. It's sooooo unnecessary and only hurts to read filtered information.
- Many statistics are swallowed by the glow and by bad display in general, making it absolutely useless. Sure, the smaller circles with outlines are better than the hazy fuzzy overlapping circles of varying size centered on a system. The idea is sound. Now please make it working c: Add a better colour distinction for the related number-ranges but don't go overboard with the circle size as you did before.
- Most colours you chose for statistics are HORRIBLE. "So I eventually see the one or the other light-tan / beige dot amidst a sea of white." ... nnnnope. That's bad. For example, DED Deadspace report looks good... if it wasn't obstructed by all the useless labels. Other statistics only use ONE colour which is super bad to get a rough estimate on a single look. Others, like Cynosural fields are WAY too big.
- ANY colour picked should NOT bleed into jump lines! This adds unnecessary glow!
- I can't deactivate labels. I don't always want to see all system / constellation / Region / Landmark names.
- Statistics cause line-break because box is too small.
- The star-background is bad. Depending on certain statistics clicked, you have a hard time telling what is a star, and what is the backdrop.
- You cannot "collapse to title bar" with double click.
- Region grouping switch works fine, but constellation grouping switch doesn't. Most of the time, a different constellation does not expand on click.
- I guess system map probe scanning and bookmark visibility and so on will happen in due time?

NEW SUGGESTIONS LAST
- Increase scrolling zoom speed.
- Add a box in the header with the letters "S C R U" (or make buttons) which stands for "System" , "Constellation" , "Region", "Universe". If you click these, the map zooms and centers the related part, based on the system that is currently selected.
- Add a small "colour legend" as well, allowing us to learn intuitively what the statistics on the map are telling us by a rough estimate instead of needing to hover everything to maybe get an idea.
- You have plenty of space in the header. Use it to pull out some functions for easier access.
- Reduce the "white idle" size from coloured systems which have no impact on currently selected filter. It makes it harder to read the actual information. Conflicting with star-drop background? Guess what - remove it :D looks must never conflict with functionality and should not be a priority.
- Add mini-information in top left corner about the system which is currently viewed / selected, like we are used to. Give it the option to align it either top left or top right with an easy access click, to not obstruct the view of systems under it when the player wants to click it. Also, customization! c:

Route-planning
- PLEASE give us the option to SAVE AND LOAD WAYPOINT ROUTES, yes? c:
- Allow to mark a waypoint to be set as "end point" which is factored into optimizing the route itself. This will save jumps when you want to go back to your home station, instead of the optimizer trying to put it as "first", and then you realize you take longer home than when you planned the route manually.
- Add the "Set as Last Waypoint" and "Set as first Waypoint" commands into context menu. Available not only for new destinations, but also for existing Waypoints to be right-clicked

New Filters
- Stations I am allowed to install a jump clone in, based on my standings.
- Show "lore / fluff beacons". You know what I mean.

Thanks for reading, more to come when I stumble across it!

Don't know if it's just me, but I cannot right click drag the map to move it around.

1) One other VERY BIG issue that I would like to point out is that using right click to drag the map around does not work!

2) The map rotation speed is still slower than the old one so it feels sluggish and not easy to move around.

1. This is intended, at least for now. Right-click-panning the map was causing some issues so it has been disabled for now. We want to see how players feel about not manually panning but rather clicking on stars to center on them to pan. We will continue to make experiments like this while the new map is still in beta.

2. I'll pass this on to the team.

Question: Will the current solar system map (not the universe map) remain? I live in WH space and do all my D-scanning from the solar system map. Why? Less clutter, no sun blinding me, 'camera' has tighter response (try moving just a few degrees in the normal view vs. the solar system view), and it's the window that my probes are in so I can D-scan a target to get a good idea where they're at and then do a pass or two with probes to get a warp in w/o having to juggle different views.

Also, if you're going to get rid of the F11 map, please include "space North" in the 3D solar system map! I know not many people use the compass, but I do, and only the F11 map shows the system layout aligned to the cardinal directions. It's not explicit, but 'up' is 'North' and this is useful to those of us who use the compass.

Hello everyone!

Once again thanks for all the great feedback. All suggestions and feedback from this thread has been forwarded to the team and will be considered for upcoming releases.

With tomorrow's release, we will be reaching near feature parity with the old map. We are therefore starting a new forum thread for feedback and suggestions post Scylla.

See you there!

** edit *** doy did not read the post above that this topic has moved.

I opt'd in today after the scylla update .... I have a very big problem with it right from the start ... when probing down signatures the signature is a black circle and is VERY hard to see in the map. The old map has a very distinct red circle ... the new black one is very hard to find on the map.

I could not find anywhere to change the color, but at a minimum the default needs to be the old red color so it stands out.

I've turned the beta off.

New probing worked really bad for me.

1) i had to choose the sig i was scanning everytime to see where is it after scanned,
2) sig icon goes black, hard to see, or the yellow and green signatures blend with system view,
3) probes won't move,
4) hard to drag and move probes "box with arrows" indicator, maybe it's time to change the look of it as well,
5) circle pointer? what the hell? how do i supose to point something with circle?
6) i had to switch off all system icon because of poping after targeted. Would be good to click and expand instead hower and expand.

all this after 3 sites scanned, useless for now, juvenile age bugs i suppose.

Maps looks ways better with stars background.

Can you please make the "Average Pilots in Space" filter scale logarithmically. 1 or 30 is a big difference, 500 or 800 not so much. At the moment all circles look the same, except there are over 100 people.

Nice work with the new filters. I'm very pleased you implemented the "recently used" feature.

You could also use the width more. Something like this. IMO it looks better, it doesn't hide half the map and it's much easier to find what you are looking for. Currently I find it very annoying changing categories in the long list.

Another thing I would like to see is renaming/rearranging of the filters. Alphabetical order doesn't make much sense if the list contains entries of different kinds (like jump, kills, type, etc)

Faction Warfare:

  • All Militas
  • Amarr Militia
  • Caldari Milita
  • Galente Milita
  • Minmatar Milita
  • Ships destroyed (1h)
  • Ships destroyed (24h)

Split Geography and Statisics
Geography:

  • Actual colour
  • Region
  • Security Status

Statistics:

  • Jumps (1h)
  • Jumps (24h)
  • Pilots in Space (30min)
  • Pilots Docked (what does "and active" mean actually in this context?)
  • Pods destroyed (1h)
  • Pods destroyed (24h)
  • Ships destroyed (1h)
  • Ships destroyed (24h)

Something like this Smile

Look very nice Big smile

But i think there is one bug, when i mark "My corp memeber now in space" it show one of corp members on map who is actually offline from few hours.

I also thought about it . I think it would be cool to make a favorites button made by the lower edge of the map . 3-4 would be enough.

Edit: Sorry, wrong thread.

If this is to go live soon, there still needs to be some tweaks.

1) If probes are out, the map needs to be focused on your current system automatically.

2) Abstract view should not apply when focused on a system. It makes the scanning also be flat and nearly impossible.

3) When focused on a system, remove the information effects, including glows and ESPECIALLY the halos.

4) Also, as the poster said above, make the circles scale logarithmically. Almost all systems looks the same.
