Okay, Can you please send me an email letting me know which Corp to join?

I'm reading absolute Horror stories of people joining Corp's and just getting Flat out taken advantage of....

Nobody, and I literally NOBODY can ever tell you what corp to join.

Why?

Because what corps suits you...is something personal.

The corp that suits me, doesn't have to suit you, Dave or anybody else in this game.
The corp that suits you, might be aweful for me, Dave or anybody else in this game.

So, in terms of finding "your" corp, it's all up to you.
There is, however, this great guide that will help you.

As for the "generally listed" corps:

RvB - High-sec PvP community consisting of 2 corps (Blue Republic and Red Federation) who are in a mutual war with each other. They do have some rules, to keep the PvP fun, but other then that...go and blow others up. Occasionally, red and blue mix to form the Purple fleets to kill 3rd parties.

EVE University - The biggest and most known "Academy" corp of EVE. They exist for 1 thing, teach new players in the way of the Capsuleer. Process to join can be long (due to the amount of new recruits vs the amount of recruiters) but in terms of general knowledge amont their teachers, they are among the best.

Brave Newbies Inc. - A corp made for new players, ran by new players when they started. They grew, a lot, very quick and are now one of the bigshots in null-sec land, and from the looks of it, they are there to stay.

Of course, there are many many other corps that deserve a mention on a list. Issue is that, that list will be different from player to player, as each player has a different gamestyle and personality so different corps will suit him.

EVE is a sandbox (or desert, due to its size).

You can do what ever you want to do.

There are 4 things that will limit what you can do:

* The EULA
* The Tos
* Anything that CCP deems to be an exploit.
* Your imagination.

As long as you follow the first 3 and don't limit yourself by the 4th, you can do what ever you can think about.

Hello Dorrim, Big smile

Thanks for the Reply. I am excted to really get into it.

Oh and by the way, what does the "ISD" in your name stand for?

ISD - Interstellar Service Department.

They are volunteers that assist CCP in certain ways. ISD is made out of many different divisions that each do something different to help CCP. Keep in mind, they are volunteers not employees, in the end they are just normal players like you and me that give something back to CCP to make the game better. They are granted a special account for their ISD character, are bound by rules and a NDA, and report directly to CCP.

The "main" ISD divisions you will see during your life in EVE are most likely:

* CCL - Community Communication Liaisons > The help CCP with keeping us in line on the forums.

* STAR - Support Team and Recources > They help CCP by assisting new and old players in EVE through the help channels (and moderate those channels) as well as occasionally visit new player systems and talk to the people there.

Then there are divisions tasked with the wiki, fiction, news and testing & bug hunting

More info on ISD can be found here:

http://community.eveonline.com/community/volunteer-program/

P.s.

Pro tip: Don't **** off ISD Bastorlode, ISD Ezwal, ISD LackofFaith...or off course any of the other ISD CCL's. They have very high "Thread Locked" skills and ain't affraid to use them.

What , How and Why did you Evolve yourself to beome more of a Mercenary Pilot other than lets say a "Benevolent Pilot"?

ill take this as im a merc

One would find a (newbie friendly in your case) mercenary corporation/alliance and apply ,

if you dont have pvp experience the corp would train you and provide simple but engaging roles for you as your knowledge and experience with the game grows,
you would be told what is beneficial for you to train and would likely have some ships provided for you ,
fo example we have an armour doctrine so our members are encouraged to train in armour tanking.

its worth noting that not all merc corps are new player friendly ,
we are "sortof" in that we will take newbros on but our methods would entail activly using a second account
(which not a lot of new players will do).

mercenary work is exactly what it says on the tin,you get paid for your pvp prowess.

the exact details of what this entail vary from client to client,
some want x amount of damages inflicted upon a target corp,
some want specific people killed,
some want their mining operations halted
some want player sttructures destroyed
some cant defend themselvs and pay for protection.

Questions, questions, questions ? Why do they always have to ask questions ? Bear

Anyway if a corp is asking you a) a fee to join b) want to ferry your stuff without a collateral contract it's usually a scam of some sort and trust me there are enough stupid people in new eden that they can make a living out of that.

as to why someone is what ever in this game is because they chose to be a one, it's up to you whether you want to be a wolf or a sheep or a corp thief

* NPC corps charge 11% tax. Player corps can charge any amount of tax they want. The big question you should ask with a corp that charge a decent amount of tax, WHAT are you doing with the tax and how does it benefit me to pay that tax?

It's known for some corps that tax income is used to benefit their members (free ship / Ship Replacement Program "SRP", offices where you have a common hangar with stuff you can take for free, an Ore/Mineral buy back program, POS that members can use).

* There are people that will scam you with corporations (asking a fee to join, asking to transfer all your assets to them so they can "haul" it, join you and then kill you aka reverse safari).

In general, ANY corp that directly contact you, without you showing interest in them....reject them. They are either up to no good OR are desperate to member and recruit without any real policy which means they are also filled with people with bad intend / bad pilots in it.

Welcome to EVE, Lady Allora.

In this virtual reality you can do anything you like: trade, build, shoot npcs, shoot players, explore, create empires and much much more.

I have only one word of advice for you: learn how to not get killed by other players when you're in space.

A known fact of EVE is that anyone can shoot you, anytime, anywhere. Even in highsec, though they have to work around some restrictions (CONCORD).

A less known fact is that it's super easy to not get killed, if you just want to go about your own business. You just need to put some effort in learning basic game mechanics. This is an excellent guide to get you started. It's focussed on lowsec, but the basic advice is good for all regions of space.

I would personally reccomend at least giving PVP a try because it's awesome. But if you don't like shooting people, just remember that there are lots of people that would like to shoot you, so learn to 'evade' (again, it's really easy) and you'll be perfectly fine in whatever you choose to do in this crazy world.

Fly safe, or dangerous, your choice!

Some corps will send recruitment emails to new players in new player systems. Check what corp they're offering and the 11% bit is telling you that the NPC corp your in (and all other NPC corps) charge a tax of 11% on various thing whereas player corps are 10% or below( generally). I know Spaceship samurai sent me an email (they might be closed now) but if it was them then its legit (I think).

You don't even have to leave your current starter corp, CAS, to experience almost all EVE has to offer.
CAS Does Stuff(tm).
http://www.cascorporation.com/index.html
http://tinyurl.com/casdoesstuff

If you're interested in trying nullsec PvP and PvE, there's a group for that, the CAS Combat Guild.
If you're interested in trying mining and manufacturing, there's a group for that, the CAS Mining Alliance.
There's a CAS wormhole group, the CASholes.
There's a group that shows people Incursions, the CAS Incursion Excursion.
There's a group that sometimes gets together to help each other with missions, the CAS PvE Fleet.

The groups are active in both US and EU time zones.

It's geared towards helping new players out, but there are also many multi-year veterans that have stayed active in these CAS fleets because they're such a good group of people. But many CAS members who learn with the CAS groups go on to join or form their own player corps.

No commitment is needed or even asked for - you don't even have to change corps!

Pop into your current Corp chat channel and ask about what you're interested in. Or shoot me an evemail if you'd like. (I fly with the nullsec PvP fleet.)

(Hopefully this post isn't against the rules against corp recruitment, as I'm advocating for somebody to STAY in their current corp. :) )

Ergherhdfgh may not play like that but some players do and no, not everybody has to kill people or be mean but killing others is a fact here. Op ,
there is no endgame* content here,
you set yourself goals and attempt to achieve those dispite the rest of us,
you don't need clear goals but always try to have fun.
You do something for as long as you find it engaging/profitable And if it's neither of those, stop and do something else.

* I'm assuming this is what you mean when you say "ultimate evolution of".

This.

Unlike other games...there is no simple "End Game", so everybody will end up as someone different, as each and every player will have to set / has set his/her own goals and how to achieve those.

So look at 10k different players, and you will get 10k different characters and stories.

So:

* Set yourself goals
* Try stuff out.
* Have fun.

Simple as that....basically...

Too bad, then it isn't that simple in the end (goals will shift, you will find out that some stuff doesn't suit you which you didn't expect to happen, fun stuff will change).
