Wow interesting stuff :o The Eve wormhole that leads to new Eden lies near Canopus( the other end) a star about 309 lightyears from sol.

I didn't know this; the natural wormhole actually collapsed before the gates stopped working Shocked Only after 70 years something happened to the EvE gates linking it together, causing them to be disrupted violently.
Also, seems New Eden once was something like todays Jita, a bustling hub of trade & commerce before the collapse wiped it out....

In short, it's like going in a WH.

It's not like going in a wurmhole. It is exactly that. The eve gate was a wurmhole that colapsed.

A common misunderstanding with eve players seems to be that wurmhole systems are inside wurmholes. But they are not. The wurmhole is just the thing that connects you to the systems.

So in theory does anyone know an estimate on how far Sol is from New Eden?

We'll... New Eden is located in some server park in London. On a planet which is orbiting Sol. So I'd say about 1 AU.

Yes but you'd figure they would have determined New Eden's distance from Sol before the gate collapse. Though I guess even that information was probably lost after its collapse.

no they didn't, eve was found during the great wars over controlling more space so they rushed into it to settle as much as they can not thinking they would ever lose the connection, and the reason why o many planets were lost at the collapse of the wormhole was not many places were set up to run independently with out needing supplies from ships coming from the milky way galaxy
