I saw the movie some weeks ago and i didn't like it at all. I was seeing it with my friend to, and he didn't like it either.

I'm a big Sci-Fi fan, so the movies have to be pretty good before i like them.

Here is a list of my current EVE / PVP videos:

1: Asteroid Madness

2: Clash of the Empires

3: Suddenly Spaceships fighting in Tama

That's a real shame, considering we don't get many good cyberpunk movies these days. I still think Johnny Mnemonic is one of the better ones out there, considering the source material. And then there is this part.

It's more iRobot meets a brightly lit B grade Bladerunner, than Cyberpunk.
I liked the grittiness and the ideas behind it, but in the end I was left wanting.
Worth a watch, though.

It doesn't look spectacular, but it does look a new interpretation of Asimov's Robot arc, which isn't a bad thing. I think AI (Spielberg) was one of the best iterations of the concept to date, but I didn't enjoy watching it and found it a bit upsetting. Which might have been the point.

AI is not a good movie. It has some good parts, because it was being directed by Kubrik before he died but most of it is pretty washed up action/adventure wich is what Spielberg is good at. Imo the last good iteration on AI/robotics was Ghost in the Shell and that is a pretty dated animated movie based on a manga. I heard Hollywood is making a live action reboot. Maybe it won't end up with all the cyberpunk atmosphere messed up like they did with the Aeon Flux movie.

Antonio was so much more attractive in his youth. Baldness doesn't suit him.

I'd have to agree with you on Ghost in the Shell. It still holds up pretty good for cyberpunk/robotics stuff even after 20 years. I still have not seen anything recently to top it for me at least, live action film or otherwise. I just really hope hollywood does not screw up the upcoming live action Gits. I don't have very high hopes for them either. Hardest part for me is the fact that its gonna be live action and not animated like we are used to. I'm also hoping they don't dumb it down either.

I think I will give Automata a try though, it seems at least watchable so far.

Watched it on NetFlix out of curiosity. Painful dialog, painfully slow pacing, the movie fails to get the viewer caring about any of the characters.

While I like the idea, which is what all good science fiction is really about, it was just one idea very poorly executed.

Example dialog that popped suspension of disbelief: "Warning, you are leaving the city limits, we cannot be responsible of your safety." It should be "for your safety". Slips in English phrasing is forgiveable in forum posts or blogs, but not in script-writing where the characters speaking are native English speakers.

The POV character was essentially unlikeable which caused me to completely disengage and begin fidgeting. Stop yelling at the robots. Stop arguing with them. Ugh.

Sigh. I wanted to like this.

BTW: I thought "The Machine", also on NetFlix, was a better movie than this, and dealt with the same themes.

I had this impression when I watched Elysium. It's full of great ideas but it could have been so much better than it was. I will give Automata a chance nonetheless. The last movie about a sentient AI I saw was I Robot and the whole picture seemed like a car advertise. It can't be worse than that.
