Do you want to own a part of EVE Online's history? Then Fanfest 2015 offers you the perfect opportunity!

During the Silent Auction at Fanfest 2015 we will auction off (among other things) actual server blades from the Tranquility server. Those blades have powered some fantastic events in the New Eden universe, but now it is time for them to retire as they will be replaced by improved hardware.

Explore all the exciting details of the Silent Auction in CCP Falcon's latest blog Fanfest 2015 Silent Auction - Servers & T-Shirts & Guns.. Oh My!

I love the cause and the prize, great job and a psst on the back to whoever came up with this idea!

One question, is there a way to participate for those who cannot attend?

How about setting one or two aside for each expansion and using eBay to auction them off?

When do we get the full sized model of CCP Punkturis encased to put on display in our quarters?

I think the next pivot point for EvE Online would be the establishment of a Eve Online Theme Park. The Theme park would be like any other theme park with rolling coaster ride's based on the buckets being made to look like the numerous ships in EvE Online.

My favorite is "Down Below The Asteroids where the cars shaped like Procurers - 1 person, Retriever - 2 person and Covetor 3 - person would ride the rail while the track zipped through up and around and below the mile long ride.

Other themes would be the History Yard where each race would have its building designed around the race's aesthetics so that when fans come to Fanfest they can fully immerse theirselves in their favorite race. Each Yard would have life like statues of the main figures in each races history that could be read about by the fans, like Sansha K. The Yards would draw more people to Fanfest because they would have something to do other than sit and listen to a DEV boasting about the size of their auto cannon's. Besides the DEV's from what I hear are far to busy to begin with so they should be in their cubes working away to get content out while fresh liquid food is pumped into them through their IV's.

I also think that another new addition called Captain's Quarter's should be created based on the games visual models as a real lice set. Captain's Quarter's would be the place where a fan could go to watch the most recent release of the Eve Online Movie that would center the events of Eve Online that would be portrayed by real actors. You would only be able to see this movie at Fanfest where fans from the year before would pay to enter to have a chance to be part of next years movie. Some conditions would apply, mainly like ridiculously named characters.

Once Fanfest was complete fans could purchase the movie if they wanted to as well as it being given out as a random door prize where a Golden Ticket may be inside. Does the fan tear the covering off the movie case? Does the fan buy another movie or does the fan let the unopened movie case sit on the mantle for many years pondering where to open it? A Golden Ticket means that the fan has a lifetime to choose when they want to appear in the movie.

Another idea is the EvE-Online experience that would come in three flavors, Eve-Online, Dust514 and Valkyrie. Each would be 45 minutes long and would center around being in a mining barge traveling to and inside of an asteroid belt where the miner is mining and is then attacked by gankers. The mining barge escapes the gank and returns to then get into a combat ship returning to attack the bandits. Dust514 would center around 45 minutes of grueling and intense ground combat. Valkyrie would start out as a patrol of the local system when an enemy cargo fleet arrives supported by escort fighters. The patrol ship calls in fighter reinforcements where the attack on the cargo shipment begins. All of these movies would be first person based 4-D rides that at the end of each movie the fan could say........"I was there."

The hardware will be auctioned as decoration, with no guarantee that it's working.

However, it was all working when it was removed from Tranquility. Big smile

We'll see. Right now we're starting with this as a Fanfest exclusive, then when there's more hardware we'll consider it for the whole community.

yes, its probably worth buying them to get the data that might or might not be on the disks. i'd pay a fortune for these if i was someone that wanted something that once had the server code on it.

it looks like a server blade, which means you will need a chassis, and they are costly. Should have at least 2 xeons in it, and depending on the age at min 32gb of ram

A few mandatory questions:

  • Is it going to be shipped or we'll have to arrange to bring it home ourselves (including the ackward discussion with the custom officer)?
  • What size are they? How much do they weight?
  • Do we have spec or model or any information on the hardware?
  • I'm assuming it'll come stripped of all hard disks?
