Back after 2 years, anything drastic changed for lvl 4 golem fits ?

Back when I last played, my fit was:


high

4x t2 cruise launcher
2x tractor beams
1x salvager


med

1x t2 kinetic hardener
1x t2 thermic hardener
2x t2 cap recharge
2x t2 shield boost amps
1x pith c-type xlarge booster

low

3x t2 ballistic control units
1x t2 power diagnostic

rig

2x large memory conductor memory cell

I remember I never had a problem on lvl 4's with this fit, but naturally since Ive just come back I don't fancy going into a mission, then getting owned because stuffs changed drastically



I do seem to remember also once having an all faction version of this, which I then un-docked forgetting we was at war and BOOM hehe

hmm interesting. Is that new module something that would be recommended in missions now ?

Also, has much changed within missions themselves ?

It allows you to fit less tank mods so that you can fit more damage mods. This will decrease mission times due to killing things faster.

Or you can just completely overtank it and then you don't really need to pay much attention and can run missions and do something else at the same time.

just so you know, bastion module fixes you in place for 1 minute much like siege and triage modules.

So I would go with the completely overtanking option because I've seen so many marauders ganked in high sec.

They also frakked over the drones so your can only launch five light drones now

A pithum c-type medium shield booster is 35mil in jita, will let you drop all the cap mods, and add damage rigs/painters, and with bastion mode it gives overkill tank for lv4s. I'd also omni-tank and fit a damage control to deter gankers,

if you are paranoid about gankers I'd fit something like this, 117k ehp and a ~5k tank with everything overloaded. Generally I'm not so I'd drop the xlasb and generally fit a prop mod in that slot.

as for the drones, I never used anything but lights on a golem anyways.

Rigs should be 2x Rigor IIs. Nothing else is as useful for running missions in a golem.

that is probably right, however I am rather fond of my golem with t2 missile velocity rigs, as with 5x bonused target painters you can usually get around the whole explosion radius/target sig radius problem for the most part (hell 3 works for the most part). Also I don't really like losing a damage mod for a damage control, which is really a golem only problem as far as marauders go. Also without velocity rigs you have to count volleys for the most part, luckily bastion has a missile velocity bonus and this should help a bit, however using bastion has other problems on a golem.

ah well, the above is why I don't fly a golem anymore, even though I have a damn near all lv5 for one, with 5% implants. I should probably buy a different implant set for that alt, maybe I'd use him more? It is still a pretty good option for missions, but I just happen to have every other option available to me so why bother with it.

With Bastion, Rigs, and 5% implants in following information

RAGE: 46,797m - 1350.8 dps
Faction: 56,156m - 1,148.6 dps
Javelin: 84,234m - 899.8 dps

I never find myself in a situation where I need to use the Jav as the Faction Torps will hit any targets that are at gap between the Rage range and the midpoint of MJD.

with the 3 Target Painter, I often 1 or 2 shot the Cruiser size target, and 2-3 shot the BS size target.

Last thing is, with Level 5 Marauder, Pith X XL do around 2500 shield HP boost in Bastion mode, so it almost do 25% of Golem shield HP (11,000). And, XL Pith X is cheap at 100M.

well, advantage Golem have over Gun boat is that Missile damage is selectable (no Kinetic Only bonus)

While other Marauder can outdps Golem. Golem can always exploit the NPC weakness to max out application dps when other marauder can't.

luckily I can fly and afford a mach, paladin, and kronos. although even if you can stay in the right part of space, which ever ship works pretty well.

This is what I fly now. The x-large booster is very cheap. Turn auto-repeat off, one cycle is about 1/4 of your shields. Adding 4 Navy ballistic controls will bump the DPS by about 70 but would cost almost 400 mil. Up to you. Runs everything without any issues, every once and a while will have to MJD to get distance but very rarely.

Don't really need the bastion module but I suppose it is nice. It helps if you decide to fly torp Golem but there really is no reason to do that.

Not sure why you think bastion module is not necessary for Marauder. benefit it provide is far more greater than any modules you could fit on marauder.

Hi! We are the Guristas and Serpentis. We use really annoying EWAR. Wouldn't it be nice if you could be immune to EWAR and need fewer slots for tank at the same time?

always use a bastion.. large sb with 2 tank mods is all you will ever need.. even fitting a dcu is silly.. you then get a cap stable golem which even if you dc during a mission, you will not die as nothing will turn off.. trust me.. been there more than once.

... What next ??

I flew a marauder for years without bastion mode, it isn't necessary. however it is quite advantageous and all my marauders have a bastion module fit P

Bastion fixes you in place period. If you are in a location where internet connection problems are a possibility or are common like they are for me then bastion is a no, no. DC with bastion on and your ship will not safe warp and there are many players that have had this happen only to log back on and be in a pod among the wreckage of their ship. As you will see below I do have a bastion in case but I have not used it in months. And yes for those wondering the Pith B x-large needs to be changed way to cap hungry but not sure what to use instead.
