I am approaching the 5 year mark since I began playing eve, and I can't help but reflect back at how things have changed for me, and how the game itself has changed since 2010. My only regret is I that hung on to the "pvp is a waste" attitude for far too long!

I remember kiting artillery hurricanes and triple rep autocannon myrmidons. I remember when 2000 m/s was a fast ship, and nano drakes were used en-masse. These along with many other things that have changed in the pvp scene since I began playing.

One ship I have always loved is the 100MN HML tengu. It is now a ship mostly of the past, due to changes in heavy missile mechanics, and the changes made to other ships around it on the field. That being said I still feel great when I fly one, and I will always keep one in my hangar and use it occasionally to get that old school feel.

I want to ask, what is your "Hail Mary" ship/fit? Past and present welcome - let's pay homage to those fits that you will always love and never let go of.

I used to sneak into nullsec with an exploration fit cyclone back in 2009-2012 using wormholes and exploration sites then were also combat sites. It was for a time possible to hack/anal the cans and run off with the loot while the fighting was still going on. I think that ended in 2012 sometime.
It had only 5 drones, 3 missile launchers, 2 shield ext and 1 repper for armor and everything else was scanning, drone mod, cloak. It also sported a 100MN AB and topped out at 1008 km/s

It took some serious Captain Kirkery to keep that ship in one piece and I used it to sneak into nullsec past the intel channels and gank pipelines, land in systems where I would not see another soul in weeks (because gate mechanics are why this is a niche game) and explore while piling up phat loot intil my hold was full. Then wormhole it back to highsec.

not really a dead fit, but TNT (triple neut Tristan) will always be in my mind as scary as hell.

much nostalgia..wow....

Maybe that's why I am so pissed at the half-assed projectile rebalance...I want the Artie Cane to be a thing again.

Artie Canes were EVE.
Artie Canes were Love.
Artie Canes were everything.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Hurricane,

dual webs, disrupter, 10mn
425's with hail (back when hail was real gimped)
dual meta HAM launchers.
no rigs (they cost a lot back then)
three gyros, an 800 plate, a dc and an eanm 1.

Folded like a cheap suit under fire but with some 3% implants and near max gunnery this thing ruined a lot of BC's and BS.

moving a BS pre warp to zero and capital ...

stabs and fibre in lo's, and multipe MWD in mid's.

Boom it went fast!

"Ludicrous speed! was born, truly. :)

aside from that, ... fitting wholly inappropriate gunnery to various ships (Rails in ammar, laser in Minmatar, etc and often at the same time!)

Oh, and the Small Blaster THorax with XL plate. That was a cool ship. :)

Has to be the 100MN AB full rack of salvagers Hurricane we used to salvage with to overcome the time factor -
pre Noctis, of course.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

Wow so many nostalgic thoughts:

200km Sniper unscannable Cerberus & Nightmares with nano-linked Dramiel tacklers.

100km MPL "Assasain" Apocs.

Nano HACs and Nano Mach's.

Dual Mwd Thorax. "Brick" Thorax fleets.

very old Sniper BS fleets - remember when not everyone had Tech II L guns and ammo trained?

AOE Doomsday Proof BC's.... ahhh... remember ... ..AOE Doomsday Titans?

Nos Domi's

These things are not "pepperidge farm remembers"-type items of nostalgia. 5 years ago, 2km/s was not a fast ship; do you not remember the evil dramiels of the day? I think trirep myrms with ACs may still actually be in use in parts.

Yeah absolutely EVERYONE used to fly them. Which is why they got "rebalanced" in the first place. How about - no thanks?

AHAC Zealot. It was the first ship I ditched all my "long term" training plans to get in to "Now, Now NOW!". Going point blank of larger BS and BC fleets was the closest combat has felt like knife-fighting to me - I still have two {one in my home base, one crouched in my carrier hanger) silently waiting for the wheel of balance to turn and they become a thing again.
