The Blockade (L2)

I'd started doing L2 missions and they were looking to be pretty easy in the Cormorant...then I hit upon this little gem of a monster mission. :)

Trouble is, all I've managed to accomplish is take out the stasis tower....and trigger ALL the waves so going back on site you find a MASS of rats, several of which hit you with sensor suppressor from 100kms out.

I tried going back with a friend but we couldn't even put a dent in their numbers on account of needing to get so close for a lock...at which point you get completely swamped.

Any tips on how to manage this one now? Simply fitting for sniping doesn't work on account of the sensor suppression, and with them all in a clump I cant even kite a couple of them away.

If you can't muster more capable assistance, wait until tomorrow, it will reset and you can be more careful with the triggers.

Put some sensor boosters or sig amps on your ship and make it fast enough to kite them and long range enough to not get hit.

I have a few Bounty Hunters ready to help you complete your L2 mission (s),

(I can't wait to find my first escalation...)

(btw, I currently have a BS -Domi, SB -for backup firepower, hidden behind the tank, Nem ; and a new Drake / Tengu.
I also have a trader which can be used to pick up drones... In case the Heavy Drones or Geckos are too slow to come back.)

Ship Type : Out of pod (for now)

a good mission for drones imo. I'd say fit a MWD and a sensor booster and buzz the closest NPC you can stick your drones on it and kite it out. Not quite sure how well that will work with drone aggro so you will have to do some work, but should be one way to get it done. as for next time I'd say be more careful with the triggers.

and for what its worth I did the guristas version recently and got perma jammed by the second wave of NPCs, so much so I went all the way to a trade hub for a different ship (drone boat) and completed the mission.

PS: auto targeting missiles can be a great choice when fighting serpentis rats, they go after the closest threat, so there can be some inefficiencies but in general I've found them to be pretty useful.

Just upgraded my Bomber to around 650 dps (although with T2 Rage Torpedoes ).
That is more damage than my current Battleship can dish out .

The Battleship has to leave battle by warp when the armor gets around half full or half empty to be safe.

If you are close to the Derelik region I'd be happy to help you out. I run this solo on level 4, drones are a must with the tracking disruptors. Also, always always always check the mission reports. This helps you properly tank and know who to not shoot (so you don't trigger the next wave).

I should also note, one tactic you can employ is to use bookmarks. Once you get into the mission, create a bookmark, then immediately turn around and travel150KM out, create another bookmark. Then if you have a sniping setup, you can warp back and forth between the two bookmarks and slowly chew them away. if you get tracking disrupted, warp and it will break the lock.

I would guess a bomber with rage torps would be 90% useless in lv2 missions. then again most of the targets have such little hp they might just die to a volley anyways Roll

then again one elite frig and I wonder if you could ever break it?

Put your drones on aggressive and they will go after the rats using the damps. Just warp in and launch the drones right away. They may only get one before they get targeted themselves, just recall them, warp out, warp back and re-deploy them.

Also: A cruiser really helps with L2 missions. A destroyer is a bit on the weak side.

L1: Frig or destroyer
L2: Cruiser
L3: Battlecrusier
L4: Battleship

The Blockade mission can be a b!tch if you ignore the triggers.

I recall grinding L3s for standing in a Sleipnir once, tactic was to just shoot everything and get it done as fast as possible. Worked like a charm until I tried that with The Blockade.... suddenly a gazillion of angry rats and I had to warp out several times before I got that mission under control. Granted, I was omni-tank fitted and had no rigs either but still, the incoming DPS was massive.

Blockade is, in my opinin, one, if not, the worst mission. I always decline it. The massive TD sansha does make my ships crying =(

Thanks all for the feedback. A friend and I managed to nail it last night with a Cormorant and an Algos, paying very close attention to the triggers.
