I've always considered my indoor 7v7 (6v6 + goalie) on the smaller fields (about hockey rink size) to be much more fun and entertaining for everyone involved when compared to a full size 11v11 field. You have a lot of walking around and waiting for the ball to come anywhere near you, and in some cases even more running as you have to cover a larger distance. In my indoor games there can be a lot of slower parts where people are just walking around with the ball because the field is smaller and you don't have to run all the time when you are part of the play.

Just my 2 cents, I would prefer a smaller field with less people cause it allows a higher percentage of the people playing the game to actually participate and be a part of the game. I'll go for either but really like my 7v7 games. And with the 7v7, since you are more actively involved in nearly every play, you run more, but that doesn't mean you can't sub more often. I've been on teams that had 2-3 full lines of people, subbing everyone every 3-4 minutes to keep people fresh.

ok, I just flew over the thread because at work and boss is close, but which "arena" is it actually? What ground? Grass? Artifical Grass? Roof? Since you require cleats I guess it's something grassy?

Also lol @ "Note that there are no real fitness requirements, but please be ready for an intense workout."
I'd have the whole Wednesday to be able to move again.

Yeah that should be fine. We're even thinking about getting transport for spectators, if there is demand for it :)

OK, since this is Fanfest I have to ask: how are the rules about... beverages at the field? I'm dead serious and no, I'm not talking about Jäger Bombs.

Unfortunately the drinks may need to stay outside due to sports grounds alcohol restrictions. We'll look into it, though.

There is one matter concerning kits for the Capsuleers team. Does anyone have any ideas regarding that? If anyone wants to take charge with that they are more than welcome to. If not, we will likely get some Dry Fit sports shirts, but nothing fancy.

I hope there's going to be uniforms. You should commission Rixx Javix to come up with something for the away team and have them professionally made with numbers and in-game names. Even if players have to buy their own jerseys to cover the expenses it'd be one hell of a souvenir.

EVE Bet may even be able to sponsor the player team to help with costs if CCP will allow us to reverse redeem PLEX for this purpose...?

With the average size of CCP devs I think that would be a really bad idea. And that average is affected by CCP Guard and all his grabbling skills, so not really better.

A 5 minutes CSM vs Devs handegg match could however be a good stressrelief.

I thought I had my old boots and guards from the last time I played; alas that was incorrect. They'll be purchased this weekend.

Always a good thing to make sure beforehand. I just have to decide which pair or if I might try to make do with one of my turf shoes so that I can pack 1 less pair of shoes. And I'm still on the fence about shin guards, space in my carryon is going to be at a premium it seems.

My issue is that I always travel with just a carry-on. And between tripod, cleats, goalie gloves, and a camelbak, there will be very little room for necessities. And shinguards will take up too much space (as I would feel obligated to bring the standard thick/long soccer socks to go over them too, and tape). Since it is full field there will be a lot less frantic foot action and more just beat you to the ball type situations. Now if it were a small field faster paced 6v6 action like my usual league you bet your backside shinguards would be one of the first things into the bag. Also forgoing the padded goalie pants and jersey as well so here's to hoping turf burns are minimal.

Since you're a goalie I doubt shin guards will be necessary, unless you play like Neuer and cover defense as well. We're also providing you with a keeper jersey which should take care of the turf burn risk ;)

What about when I am rubbing my studs down the front of his legs to distract him at corners Twisted

I would advise if you can bring them to try. In all seriousness, you never know what can happen when playing with and against people whose level you have no idea about.

It is also a good place to hide a pack of peanut M+M's for when you are quiet, true story I played with someone that regularly did this. Big smile
