So i had an idea while bored at work of what could be an idea for the last 4 battleships that need the T2 treatment.

Don't get me wrong the Rokh, Maelstrom, Abaddon and Hyperion are all awesome ships on there own.

so my idea is of a rapid response assault ships of sorts.

these ships would follow the same line as marauders with a bastion module which would give that bit extra in combat.

like a carrier i recon it should be able to use fighters but not a full wing as that would be OP! something along the lines of 2-3 with the ships/skill giving some bonus to them aswell.

i haven't really though of any stats or naming of them yet.

any ideas are welcome.

I think people need to
A: start searching for previous topics.
B: Flesh out their ideas before they post them
C: Stop asking for fighters on subcaps or escort carriers.
D: Stop asking for t2 BS's without a clear and compelling role for them.

So OP, how exactly do you mix "rapid response" and "gets stuck in one place" and get anything worth using.
Also why does the game need this, and why would it benefit?
What strengths of a marauder does this "rapid response" ship give up to... move fast I guess?
What can a faster than normal T2 BS accomplish that couldn't just as easily be done by fitting a nano or two to a normal t1 BS, or a Machariel?

To be honest, before we get more T2-battleships, I would rather see development time going into T2-versions of the missing battlecruisers. Oracle, Naga, Tornado and Talos are all fine ships, but deadends due to missing T2-versions.

This comes up frequently, and in a previous discussion on the matter I remember someone saying that T1 battleships need to be adjusted and given a useful role in the current world dominated by capital ships and T3s, rather than making new T2 battleship hulls that even further obsolete T1 battleships.

BS are in a bad position due to bomb mechanic and easy combat probing. That's why T3's and capitals are popular, they can survive much longer.

OK I guess I am really out of touch.
It was my understanding that we have tech 2 variants of the BS and BC.
The tech 2 BS are called Marauders.
The tech 2 variants of the BC are called Command ships.

As far as tech 2 versions of the Oracle, Naga etc I say no way, but that is just my opinion.

I don't think people should stop asking for escort carriers, but yes it is redundant.

Here's my idea for T2 battleships: no bastion module, just an all-out attack defense platform with T2 resists, 8 weapons, and no drone bay. Give em defense, range, damage, and tracking. Amarr=lasers, Caldari=missiles (no heavy missile bonuses), Gallente=hybrids, Minmatar=projectiles.

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

You're right, we do. There is also BLOP's ships.

I would love to see T2 varients of both the old 'tier 3' Battleships AND Battle Cruisers. The problem is "What role would they fill?" And that is a question that is very difficult to answer without the result being very unbalanced and/or game breaking.

I did like the idea of a T2 ABC 'Super Heavy Bomber', but again, very broken.

I REALLY liked the idea of a 'carrier' style heavy BS, but again, broken.

So many awesome ideas that just can't happen because they are so game breaking.

You must be really out of touch if you think the Command ships use the old tier 3 BCs. Did you never actually take a look at those?

But you're right technically we have T2-BCs and BSs already. That's not however what the OP and I want. We want even more of them! Little difference. P
