I have been getting socket closed on all my accounts every few minutes since yesterday, and it appears some other gamers have a similar issue since than while connecting to other games.

Here is a picture of research I did:

http://i62.tinypic.com/bf1b15.jpg

The one node:

if-11-2.thar2.NJY-Newark.as6453.net

Had 10-30% packet loss constantly

Would it be correct in interpreting this data as this being a culprit or is this research flawed in some way?
If this hop is the issue with my socket closures - What is the correct course of action?
Must I - contact my isp regarding this issue or can I force data to be routed through a different path somehow through the router?

Seen this happen routinely on a Comcast node in Seattle in early 2014. Enough people reported it that they eventually cleared it up. It was the "incoming node" from Verizon and maybe other services. I was having to VPN into a Comcast business network across the sound then ping the server to get around it.

If it keeps up, contact your ISP. I would however give it few days as I am sure you are not alone.

Wait... another 'Closed socket wasn't CCP's fault' thread?

Did I stumble into a wormhole leading to Bizarro World tonight?

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Of course not.

You weren't paying attention to your route and jumped a gate you shouldn't have to get here.

It means that the internet wasn't really planned. It means it's thrown up in slapdash fashion. Bottlenecks appear by themselves. Why does a signal from South Florida travel to Dallas, then to Washington D.C. then to Chicago to get to Los Angeles or Spain? What it really means, beyond that is, people have a funny idea about the internet being somewhat organized - like perhaps a highway system (which really isn't organized, either.)

At present there's two major bottlenecks for everyone using the internet in the U.S. One is in Washington D.C. The other is in Chicago. (In or around.) If you did a traceroute, you saw your signal from your machine to EVE servers passes through no less than fourteen servers in some very odd places, I might add. What you need to see is where other people's signals travel. Then you'll see where some attempt is being made to route internet traffic to prevent "packet loss."

However, don't get the idea the internet is a well-planned string of servers designed to handle anything efficiently and quickly. That's never happened. It might one day. When that day comes, it's going to cost a fortune. It'll probably be more expensive than the Interstate Highway System was to build.

The right to free speech doesn't automatically carry with it the right to be taken seriously.

or more likely than not .. the one node was too busy to give your packet the time of day .. HA !

When you call them, ask them to talk to "TATA Communications" on your behalf.

If the connection doesn't change by after the superbowl I am going to contact my isp. In the meantime just wont play eve and play skill trainer online instead. I have a feeling superbowl will be a lot of traffic and this is a major routing hub between USA and EUROPE/England so it might be curbing packets and forcing loss in anticipation of superbowl related traffic.

I did miss a Birthday event for my corp and other events I really wanted to attend so that is unfortunate but hopefully I can get back to playing eve in the coming weeks.

tiny pic is blocked here but im willing to bet that hop is well outside your ISP's network. usually if its beyond the first 4-5 hops your ISP wont do anything

The last hop before it is my isp comcast. The next hop after it is london across the ocean. What should I upload the picture through that is not tiny pic and does not require a log in or account?

Is the picture which was formerly tinypic

Consistently 10-45% Ploss recorded over several hours at 1 second intervals in a recent study. Hoping it clears after the superbowl. A lot of wow players in 2013 and other gamers in different years had issues with this hop as well.

ya unfortunately that looks well outside your ISP's network. You will be hard pressed to get anyone in their TAC to recognize it and try to escalate it to L2 or whoever owns that part of the network. I'm speaking from experience work in upper level support at a big ISP and have direct escalation paths to our TAC and I still get guff when going that route.

I will not be able to ask to be re-routed? and if so, that means I am waiting an indefinite amount of time before I can play eve again unless I pay for access to other routes?

I would start by yelling at your ISP. Tell them it is affecting your income.

Its possible it just depends on how far removed that is from your ISP's network

if its in their edge network(the servers that hand off to other networks) they may be able to do something. if its multiple hops beyond theres nothing they will do unless its being reported by multiple customers.

Your first hurdle will be getting through the initial levels of your ISPs techsupport. Very few of the Tier 2 agents that im surrounded by would even know what to do with this let alone any first level guys.

Routers on backbones will always try to find the quickest/least lossy route within the connections it has purchased bandwidth on that are listed in the routers tables, what is happening is between Comcast and Tata.

why?, well Comcast may not have bought the bandwidth allocation with Tata that they are pushing at Tata so they drop you as your not flagged as priority traffic, its not due to the Superbowl or any other event happening, just corporate greed on both sides.

i did a tracert to you first IP address listed, Comcast has many pipe providers across the Atlantic, so its their routing tables that need a look at....
