On a windows 7 system. The update appears to have broken my installation of eve. It went all the way through but now tells me I need to reinstall from scratch.

Again you've failed to fix the containers positioning and size problem.
It's a real pain so I'm no longer playing until you do.

Hi!
I have a problem with the updater/repair tool.Running the game on a Windows 7 laptop.
After today's Down time Ran the client as normal the PopUp for Client update came,I accepted it it started the download then closed the client to run the update.
Here after patching a message came stating that the update failed would I like to run the Repair tool.
So I accepted it and the repair tool ran and came to "Downloading recipes : Initializing.."
And is stuck there.....
Task manager shows that it is running.
so I'm stuck and unable to log into the game :(
Thx for Assistance in advance :)

After downloading the today's patch, my ExeFile.exe failed to start producing an error like this:

Verification Failure

Your EVE client installation may have modified, damaged or corrupt files. Please run repair.exe located in the EVE game directory or re-install the game client.
Verification failed: 'C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin\_trinity_deploy.dll', crc:7f2ec938, expected:aa61e845.

OK

the repair.exe tool also failed to fix that
OSError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'C:\\Program Files (x86)\\CCP\\EVE\\bin\\tmp3r3eoh.repair'

This!!! I love spreadsheets online but having to move and resize them every time I logon, dock, undock is getting to be a pain...
& stop asking for me to accept the EULA unless you've changed it!!!

How about locking the Devs in a room with some PCs & asking them to fix bugs, and don't let them out, or allow beer, weed or pizza into the room until they fix the most obvoius bugs! Big smile

Some of these sound like there might be a zombie EVE process in the background causing the patcher some grief, the easiest way to make sure there are no such processes running is to reboot the computer. Please try this and report back.

As for container windows moving around, yes we know about this and we have facepalmed quite hard. There is a fix in the pipes.

Does L: happen to be a valid drive letter on your system?

If you are able to reproduce this we'd very much appreciate a screenshot of the "Show Details" view as well.

This was the correct solution to my issue. There turned out to be two 'exefile' processes running, which was obviously stopping the repair tool repairing, and presumably stopped the initial patch working too.

Please try using the generic patcher instead, is basically does the same thing as the repair tool. You can download it here:
http://content.eveonline.com//327748/evepremiumpatch327748.exe

Simply run it and select the client you want to update to the 327748 (current TQ) version.

With show details

FYI hitting show details was a pain cause the error occurs almost instantly and hitting retry/cancel/X will just make it pop back up straight way.

L: is a valid drive and is the drive where EVE is installed

On a side note, the L partition is 3.5TB, something which seems to cause problems with the installer recently. I tried running setup from scratch cause of these patch problems but L: shows as having -1539.-35 GB or something.. has a long been downgraded to int somewhere? heh

Thanks for taking the time to report these, we have a pretty good idea of what is causing your problems and are going to work on fixing them. In the meantime you should be able to use the newer generic patcher instead:

Still crashes my laptop's Intel HD graphics card on startup and every other jump... I was so happy when you fixed it in 1.0.1...

I have reported 3 bugs 18 days ago and they are still marked as "Not filtered". Two of them seem to be fixed but one that really annoys me is still there. When opening the Fitting window, I can hear the associated sound effect multiple times. It seems to cause some small lag while opening the window and displaying everything in it.

this patch completely destroyed my client. repair wouldnt even work and nearly destroyed my system software (windows 7). My machine would not even start up for 30 minutes after this update crashed my EVE client.

Now, I finally got my system up and running again, I had to unisntall EVE altogether and reinstall.

I am currently experiencing a problem where showing info on a character renders the info window contents only as far as the avatar's forehead or right below the character's title text. The loading indicator is still spinning after a minute or so.

In fact, this problem is manifesting itself on all attempts to show info on characters regardless of whether I close the show info window or not.

CCP's love of spinning indicators (aka session timers) is strong.

Addenda: Logged off the problematic toon and logged into another char. The issue did not manifest itself on the newly logged in account. Perhaps the problem was node / location based?
