Out of Game Events and Gatherings

I am very much into hiking and photography, and have had Iceland on my to-go list for quite some time because there is so much amazing stuff to see.

But since FanFest is in March, how likely is it there is still going to be a lot of snow/ice around? Is it worth trying to figure out hikes to do and ways to get to them (don't have a rental yet)? What are some good hikes/sights/amazing scenery places to see during this time of year?

I'm also really hoping to get to out at night and get some northern lights viewing/photography in, as well as maybe some astrophotography, though I don't have a tripod and not sure I can borrow a sturdy enough one to fit in my carry on.

I have signed up for the Golden Circle tour, but I'll have about 3 days of free time in addition to that and FanFest so I'm looking to see if there are any CCP devs or other players that would be interested in maybe organizing some small day trips or even a couple tries at northern lights. One of the shots I'd like to get is northern lights over a glacial bay, or at the very least a bay with some ice floating around.

Are there any places like that one would be able to access with a rental car this time of year? I am kinda between jobs at the moment and was already committed to FanFest, so spending money on tours for both me and my brother is not exactly desirable. But if there are any CCP devs or other players that would like to get some group trips together, I'd be all for helping pitch in for splitting a rental or gas.

And if I'm going to need to get a rental then I need to get the process started on my international license.

My plans are to be there Tues morning 17th, and flying back next Tues evening on the 24th. So that gives me Tuesday, at least part of Sunday (depending on if I do the blue lagoon), Monday and most of Tuesday.

I was hoping to find a dev with better local knowledge or maybe someone that has been there a lot to come with. Might have to start emailing a few random devs to see what I can stir up.

I still haven't put together a specific list of things/places to go/see but might get around to that this week.

Soooo is there a schedule out for Fanfest yet or does anyone know when it will be over on Saturday?

Trying to figure out plans on what I'm going to be doing and could use the info on times that Fanfest will be going each day. Since I can't seem to find anything posted anywhere.

Guess since there hasn't been any real feedback on this thread I'll either hijack the other 'first time to iceland' thread or start email random devs. Or I'll just have to make the best of it on my own and hope I don't miss something simple and quick and amazing.
