Awesome vid. Did none of you click the one I linked earlier?
There are THREE songs (at least) dedicated to the Rokh.

The rohk is a good pve ship, it's just that there are better options and in the eyes of many that makes it bad.

A quick tip about drones though,

Almost every ship relies upon them to some degree or another,
particularly the battleship class though.

As someone who attacks battleships with frigates fairly regularly I can tell you with absolute certainty that battleships are extremely vulnerable when small fast things get in close (Almost defenseless in fact).

If you're set on hopping in a battleship then I highly recommend you get your light drones trained as far as t2.
also think about training "Advanced Weapon Upgrades" to 5 as without it you're going to struggle with fitting the guns.
Yeah I know, I don't like them either but sp put into drones is almost as useful as that put into core skills.

Back to the topic though I have seen some great things out of the rohk.

AWU3 or 4 should be more than enough. AWU 5 usually only matters on t2 ships, mostly AF's and HAC's.

Sorry J'Poll. The forums are having that glitch where its only letting me click "Like" on your post once.

OP, While there are "better" options, the Rokh is more than sufficient for completing level 4 missions. I do recommend a microjump drive however. Something like this would probably work. It only regens 150 ehp per second, but the microjumpdrive means that you will be able to easily move to ranges where most stuff isn't damaging you. Also in missions tracking isn't a huge deal as the rats aren't all that fast. Just make sure you're shooting at 75-100km and you should be able to hit them fine. Finally, change the light drones to whatever damage type you need against the rats. You could also run mediums if you want.

The fit requires Advanced Weapon Upgrades 4 and Shield Upgrades 4, or AWU3 with a 2% powergrid implant. The second fit works easily with AWU 3 and Shield upgrades 3, but I really recommend trying to get t2 tank early on.

Wow. So many things wrong with your post, i dont know where to start.

Gregor Parud wrote:

Right, because new players can always minimize time by blitzing through missions with perfect accuracy. They have no problems tanking. No problems dealing with the webbing frigs, and even sometimes warp disrupting NPCs. Infact, why bother having any skills at all, cause we all know a poorly skilled new character can be just as efficient and do all the same things as a well skilled vet character.

Wait a minute, how does reality work again?

Oh, and even the fastest battleships going at 300 m/s only travel about 50 km in 3 minutes, so you really dont have to rely on a "3 minute gimmick", and you dont need to have it ready at the exact moment. Infact, the only moment you need it, is at the beginning. Infact, even in my early days, the only times i needed to use the MJD was at the beginning and the end. I would jump 100km off, then jump 100km back to my starting position. Thats it. No time wasted, made it a helluva lot easier to run L4s even with my inexperience and lower skills.

Quote:
The tactic also forces a lot of range ammo use, which lowers dps and thus wastes time (hence my "lol range and damage" remark)

Since the ranged ammo that lowers DPS is only used against frigs, and by the time frigs are dead the battleships are well within range of the highest DPS ammo, your "Lol range and damage" claim is debunked. I remember mentioning this in my last post, but i guess with how you condensed my post into simply "Stuff", you didnt bother reading it.

You need better reading comprehension skills.

Would you like me to quote what the original poster of this thread, said?

"Now if you ignore that the Rokh is basically a deadend if you consider progression (from Hyperion I can upgrade to Kronos ultimately)"

Whats that? Again?

"Now if you ignore that the Rokh is basically a deadend if you consider progression (from Hyperion I can upgrade to Kronos ultimately)"

So, to recap, the original poster understands this point, and isnt asking for that. I understood this point, and wasnt discussing it, and tried to bring it back to the original posters by pointing out how a new player would go through things. You, on the other hand, didnt understand it, and therefore kept going back to it.

I guess thats another thing you failed to read. Or comprehend. Either way, again, please actually read the comments instead of ignoring them all and posting your own drivel. Itll prevent you from making mistakes in the future.

Feel free to enlighten me. Feel free to prove me wrong. Go ahead, ill be waiting.

Quote:

And yet, all your arguments have been shot down.

You first mentioned how a Rokh doesnt get tracking bonuses, which was debunked.(No need if done right, etc)

Then you mentioned how it lacks base DPS. Debunked.(8 slots vs 6 slot hype/mega)

Then you mentioned how its gonna have fitting issues with MJD and tracking because of its sheild tank. Debunked.(lowslot tracking enhancers, out of range of enemies therefore getting very little damage, etc)

Then you suddenly switched form Mega to Mega Navy issue from the "lacks base DPS" section of the discussion, which makes no sense, because the original poster realizes this and is asking for us to ignore this progression, and a mega is gonna lack DPS compared to a mega navy issue too.

And now, the "LOL range LOL damage" thing was debunked, too, although youve seemed to have yet to read how it was debunked.

So good job. Youve been demonstrated to be wrong on every point. So please, keep telling us how bad a Rokh is for mission running.

Dont worry though, i wholeheartedly expect you to condense my entire post into "Stuff", ignore it all, and keep repeating how the rokh is such a bad ship.

As opposed to the 530 DPS of a Megathron? That barely has the same optimal even with 4 tracking computers, all loaded with Optimal range scripts?

Wow, an entire 70 DPS! Its too bad youre only gonna be cruising 150m/s.

Also, as a side note, lol. Going caldari navy antimatter on a rokh with 2 tracking enhancers, gives you around the same optimal (5km less) as a Megathron with 2 tracking computers and Caldari navy uranium, while dealing 550 DPS.

...As opposed to a MWD railgun hyperion or megathron? Always having to burn in order to get range on the incoming battleships and the frigates that pound away at you? Always running out of cap because of the combined cap-drain of guns, Tracking computers, MWD, and repair modules? Being webbed and scrammed and losing my ship? And spending isk on cap boosters that take up a huge amount of space in your cargo that prolongue my suffering for 10 more minutes?

That makes me cringe far more than his safety rokh fit ever will. Especially if im new.

Also, theres this magical new item that was just released... I think it was released in Proteus, since ive never even seen one before. But its called a "Mobile tractor unit". Apparently it sucks in items to its location.

You don't have to bling it
the chance of using 100km MJD to get to specific targets is low, especially with its 3 min recharge
as stated earlier "Rokh is cool" is a valid reason, but someone saying "look at this fit, it's great" while having a ******** omnitank and silly tactic is not helping any newbie who reads this thread.

So, basically.

Yeah, that's truely how EVE is (NOT), and that is truely helping new player (NOT).

Let anybody play the way they like, I dislike your idea, just cause with all that knowledge, it shows how much of a min/max carebear you are. While the true fact is, as long as you have fun, you are doing it right.

Show me where the OP states the Rokh is fun or even his preference. Show me where the OP states that "sniping" is his preferred play style. He's asking why it's shunned so much.

And then we get to this:

Sounds to me like the OP isn't looking for a hilarious low DPS "run awaaaayyyyy!!!!" ship that is overall a slow mission runner, does it?

We did missions before MJD, even low SP newbies. Using MJD as an extra option can make good sense, using it as a crutch resulting in wasting lots of time running away makes no sense, unless you WANT it to make sense. But if that were the case the OP wouldn't ask for help/opinions.

The only bias here is people trying to force their own views and while there's nothing wrong with that as such it's no where said that those views are the same as the OP's. I simply stick to facts, because as advice goes that's probably best. Then we can let the OP decide whether or not a certain tactic is preferred.

You should ask that in the mirror first, before you start spouting off your nonsensical drivel to me.

OP is not asking whether the rokh is a valid replacement. She is asking whether the Rokh is a GOOD PVE SHIP. She doesnt even have a battleship yet, nor the skills to fly gallente battleship(She seems to have gone Caldari, judging by how she has Caldari Target management certificate to 3). There is literally nothing she is replacing.

Shes basically saying "Ive almost got the skills to fly a Rokh, but I dont know whether its a good PVE ship. So, how is the Rokh, as a L4 PVE ship?" Notice the utter lack of the word "replace".

Quote:

And if you want to MWD around wasting time and cap and dying frequently to rats, then thats your prerogative. I finally understand why you would need so much tracking. It sure is hard to hit rats circling 10km away with a large railgun, after all.(LOL)

But considering how i shot down all your "Reasons" and debunked them thoroughly, and seeing as how you stopped responding to them, maybe you should take my advice and stop posting. You lost, the moment you became unable to respond to my counter-arguments. Its time to admit you were wrong and move on.

Yeah, shame on noobs with poor cap management skills and lack of experience for going the easy road. If only they could all fly like you did, losing dozens of battleships and buying plex to cover their losses.

Is the Rokh the best ever L4 mission runner, hands down? Of course not. Marauders, faction ships do much better, which is why they cost a lot more. Is it a good mission ship, that uses Large hybrid weapons and can safely run L4s in a decent amount of time and is new player friendly? Absolutely. Is it necessarily better than a hyperion or Megathron? No, each one has their pros and cons.

And does it sound to you like OP is looking for a hilariously high risk "OMG i lost my 4th battleship this week!!!" ship that is overall a slow mission runner because of the constant warping in and out she has to do due to low/no cap and having to spend isk repairing or wasting time using modules to repair her Armor/hull?

Yeah, a sniper boat trying to keep distance and run away. Utterly unheard of. Makes no sense to be able to gain an extra 100km, use the 3+ minutes to clear out all the rats, and then jump back to the gate/starting position.

Using an MWD and wasting a shitload of cap trying to burn and run 100km, then using the MWD to burn back, makes much more sense.

Why dont you say that after youve responded to the arguments i posted that utterly debunk your "facts"?

But the problem here, is that no one here is saying that the rokh is the OMGFFS SUPER BEST L4 RUNNER EVARR!!!111. Its not the best. But its decent. And especially noob-friendly. Its a safer way to run L4 missions, because new players cant afford to replace their 200 million isk ships every time they get caught by 2-3 Warp disrupting webbing frigates and run out of cap to kill off the battleship because they wasted thier cap on an 100mn MWD.

Quote:

I used invulns when i started out. I couldnt bother looking up each mission each time it comes up so that i can know which resists are best to fend them off.

But the real kicker is, i didnt need to research the resists of the rats, because my Rokh was always 50km away from the closest threat. 90% of the attacks missed, and the other 10% did such little damage that they would be long dead before i reached 50% sheilds.

- before MJD newbies didn't lose ships at that rate, at all, not even slightly. So, really, it's more about you going "I like range" rather than it being necessary or even recommended from a game mechanics pov. Nothing wrong with that as such but then don't defend it as being better, it's not, and simply state that you just enjoy it that way

- because you didn't know about damage types you figured it would be a good plan to tell other newbies that Omni tanking is fantastic by fitting 2 invuls on your linked fit, instead of showing them how it's done. If they have questions on that they'll be asked. In your case; drop the 2 invuls, swap to kinetic (assuming Guristas) give you about the same tank, allowing for a TC meaning you can use higher dps ammo at the same range.

- who said anything about MWD?

Keeping it simple, to a degree, for newbies makes good sense. Treating them like brain dead morons who can't click a button or read 2 paragraphs of text does not make good sense and is completely unnecessary.
