Out of Game Events and Gatherings

Hey all,

In 2013, a few of us CCPers and players went together on a small ski trip at the local ski area. We had a blast even though the weather was not kind to us. We are doing this again this year on March 18th, Wednesday before Fanfest!!

It's an unoffical trip, where it's just a bunch of people going skiing/snowboarding together and having a good time, but this time we have arranged for a bus to take us there, which makes things a lot easier.
Please note that this is not an event or organized at all by CCP, and neither myself nor CCP are responsible if anything were to happen, people go boarding/skiing at their own risk :)

We are just going to have fun. If you have never gone, you can still join and have a good time (although probably falling quite a lot like everyone does in the beginning). I’m no pro, but I can try to give people some tips :P

Ski Area:

• The mountain is called Bláfjöll and is only 30-40 min drive from downtown Reykjavík.
• The opening hours are 2pm - 9pm
• The ski area is often closed due to wind, so we always just hope for the best, don’t get too disappointed if it will be closed
• You can rent skis, snowboards and boots at the ski area, but sadly they don’t have helmets for adults :(
• It's hard to say what kind of weather to expect, I would expect the temperature to somewhere between -5 and 5°C

What you need:

• warm skiing clothes (waterproof pants, jacket, warm baselayer, whatever will keep you from freezing)
• gloves
• hat
• (helmet would good)

Getting there
We have arranged for a bus to take us there.
We leave some yet to be determined location in Rvk (perhaps CCP's office) at around 1pm March 18th and arrive at the ski area about the time it opens at 2pm.

Cost: (isk=icelandic króna)

• Ski pass: 2.400 isk (3 hours) or 3.250 isk (day pass) + 1000 isk for the card (500 isk refundable)
• Ski/snowboard rental: 4700 ISK
• Bus: 1500-2000 isk

If it will be closed that day, we'll just cancel the whole thing, but hopefully it won't come to that.

I could do earlier as well as I'm arriving on the 15th.

If we're truly doing onesies then I think I may even bring mine, despite how utterly ridiculous it is.

I'm in! Either date is equally excellent for me.

Hate to do this, but I think I'll had to pass on this. :( Combination of time, funds, equipment, experience, etc. I do hope everyone who goes enjoys the trip, though!

We'd loved to have you go with us, but Fanfest time is busy and lot stuff going on so it's totally understandable that people can't participate in everything
I just worry about who will now validate the things I say
