... does it really make sense to keep pumping out tracks for the seldom lingered upon title screen, only to quickly discard it for a new theme the next month?

I mean heck in Dust we can't even get real music, and here peeps just be throwing it away all the time like it ain't no thang.

Could at least make some legit space music for nullsec. Maybe they should hire one of those creepy industrialist ambient guys with a really long pair of rods going through his nipples or something.

Edit: This is not to diminish the work of RealX in any way. A man without nipple rods can still produce sound.

Came expecting a thread about nipple rods and/or piercings.

Leaving satisfied.

I leave the login screen on just to hear the latest works of Eve's "Hans Zimmer".

Do we all have to be nitpicky as if everything mattered?

You could just bring back the jukebox. For those of us who have RSI due to, er, shipspinning, invention, and STRUCTURES

I wouldn't mind being able to toggle the eve music on and off on the forums tbh, is that possible? You could create a linky somewhere with the eve music links, even if they are on soundcloud in the first place.

Alienhand is amazing and I have no idea why CCP did not pick him up ages ago. It was pretty obvious he was looking for work.

Their styles only slightly conflict, and frankly AH's style works far better for Nullsec whereas RealX is more fitting on highsec.

Still kill to have either of them work a few tracks into Dust. Hell, even one combat track would be nice. That game is so..... quiet. It's ridiculous.

+1. Is this a stealth "bring back the jukebox" thread?

I try not to think about that, honestly. Too many shattered dreams lately.

Effectively soundcloud has replaced the jukebox. Which is awesome. All these tracks go on soundcloud, and you can pick and choose what you want to hear from there. Devs don't have to waste time updating audio codecs and jukebox code and we get identical functionality to what we once had. Win-win!

Matter of principle to the thing.

Also, it doesn't much matter in the case of log-in screen music. It's all unfitting for exploration or station-side nose picking. The only way a jukebox would be appropriate at this phase would be if it automatically switched between music folders based on your current location, just as the game does.

But as thats not the point of this topic, and i dont feel like having the ISD lock this down some silly duplicative reasoning, thats enough of that.

Just saying, would immensely prefer some in-game tracks over throw-away log-in tracks that nobody bothers with.

Sure. The principle is we'd rather have our developers taking the game forward than maintaining what amounts to a WinAmp clone.

My conspiracy theorist 'friend' says royalty from codecs was part of the reason why the jukebox was removed. Oh and that Goonswarm's icon is going extinct because of Monsanto's GMOs.

Its 2015. Playing music, gaming, using voice comms, and browsing at the same time should come as naturally as scratching your sack or complaining all the time about things that don't really matter.

If Darwin's master plan is to hot tub time machine us back to the 90's and alter history so that winamp trumped competent sound design as an industry standard, then far be it from me to stand in his way.

Well you could equally say that having a dev spend time on tracks that are heard for 5 seconds during log on and then never heard again is a waste of time and money.

Atleast add the expansion tracks to the ingame music playlist. no need for a jukebox just add the tracks to the exisiting playlist !
